  14. HOW CAN I LISTEN TO YOU ON MY CAR RADIO

  1. How come my media player buffers and cuts in & out?
You may need to change the buffer time in your media player. The default is usually only 3 seconds. You may have to increase the time to 15-30 seconds. Go in to media player set up and change the default time. Make sure you hit the enter key TWICE after you make the changes or hit Ctrl-Enter. Web congestion is another factor. Heavy internet useage bottles up the "pipeline". A computer with a slow processor or not enough RAM can also cause the problem. Searching the web while listening to the Countrybear will use a lot of RAM. If the station "buffers" a lot, you may need to add more RAM to your computer. We had a problem with "skipping" here at the Countrybear that really baffled us. We tried all of the above solutions but to no avail. After a lightning hit, we lost a modem, and when the new modem was installed, the skipping stopped! Check your modem---it could be "flaky" and cause the skipping! There is one other thing you can try: Click on your Windows Media Player. Click on "File" then "Open". In the box that pops up type: mms://starartist.com/countrybear This may help your buffering problem. If it does, you will have to access our stream directly from your Windows Media Player by typing in this file name! Hope this helps!

  2. Why does Country Bear goes on and off and the songs are interrupted regularly? Do I need to download any software?
A few possibilites. A slower processor on your computer. Not enough RAM or a slow connection speed on your modem. We have computers here that buffer because of any of the three above reasons. With a good 28.8 modem connection, 200 Mhz computer and 64K of RAM it sounds like a home stereo! Don't overlook a defective modem also!

  3. Is there a problem with the Windows Media Player Version 7.0 playing the CountryBear stream?
There IS a problem with the windows media player Ver. 7.0 The 6.4 version works fine. From your program files directory, go the windows media player folder and look for "Mplayer2.exe" Drag it out to your desktop. This is the 6.4 Version player embedded within Windows 7. Type in our address: "http://starartist.com/countrybear.asx" just like you would on the Win7 player. Leave this version of the Windows media player on your desktop. Microsoft has a runtime DLL problem, and the only way to correct it is to re-install windows.

Some listeners have been complaining about a "clicking" sound similar a camera clicking while listening to our stations. You can thank microsoft for that. Remove the " clicking sound" by doing the following: Click on start (lower left on your computer) then settings, then control panel. Click on sounds and audio devices. In the top of the sounds and audio devices page click on the box that says "Sounds". Look for "Start navigation". Remove the sound for " start navigation" by deleting it and selecting "none".
