Re: Alter Ego, what the heck?

OK, here's the deal ...

Paul (guitar)- It turns out Paul is a sleeper CIA agent (kind of like the Bourne Identity), and has been activated into service. The Paul on stage now is a sophisticated cyborg, sent back in time from the future to pose as a mild-mannered guitar player from the South Side.

Jason (sound) - Jason finally got his grant to study, work, and live among the orangutan colony in Southern Burma. This has been his dream since he was a child. This also explains a lot, if you've ever met Jason.

Tony (drums)- Tony has been picked up as a TV spokesmodel for a new line of hair care products. He is moving to Modesto, Calif., on the advice of his agent, to be closer to Hollywood. The hair care products are sold under the "Scrub Head" brand name. Their target demographic is middle-aged "musicians."

Brett (Vocals) - Won the lottery. Don't bother calling him ... he already dumped the money into Tony's line of hair care prodcuts. He bought enough hair gel to keep Jason's orangutans looking spiffy for years to come.

Unfortunately, the CIA suspected that Brett was wise to Paul's cyborg twin months ago, and has been feeding it bull blasters, thus disrupting the programming. We can't find Brett. If anybody sees him, please send him to Tonic on Saturday, Jan. 19.

But seriously, folks...these guys have decided to go a different direction musically...wayyyy different...so Alter Ego is currently auditioning their next talented (and hopefully better looking, other than the fugly bass player) team of musicians to continue doing "Rock Done Right!"

You'll start seeing the guys in their new projects called "The Tailgaters" and "Delta House." Show them some love and support. I will and I truly wish them all the best in the world!

I love all these guys dearly, and we're all friends and always will be ... This was a group decision,
no drama here at all, believe me ... just "re-loading" for lack of a better word. You'll recognize some of the new faces, and I think you'll like what you hear and see. Stay tuned!

Re: Alter Ego, what the heck?

An update:
Two members have been added to the new lineup. Roy (guitar/vocals) and Jeff (drums) from Nemesis have agreed to join ALTER EGO! We're trying out a lead guitarist and a lady vocalist this week and will begin rehearsals to make the changeover probably by the end of February.

This is an exciting time for all of us, and if the first jams are any indication, this will be pretty damn badass! I know my longtime brothers in the band, Tony, Paul, Brett and Jason, will do great things with their new projects, The Tailgaters and Delta House, and we'll all be supporting each others as friends and fellow musicians should.

Hope you'll check the band out once we get gigging and continue the support you've given us for so long!

Re: Alter Ego, what the heck?

After an intensive week of jams, rehearsals, phone calls and e-mails, there is now a set lineup for ALTER EGO that will be taking the stage as of March 1.

As stated before, my brothers Brett, Paul, Tony and Jason are off to start a new project of original Texas country and Americana called The Tailgaters. I wish them all the success and joy in the world, because it has really been a pleasure to play with them for so long, and they will ALWAYS be my friends. They'll also be featured as part of another party cover band called Delta House. I encourage you to check them out once they start gigging, and I hope you'll come out and support all the efforts going on. Their Myspace pages are in our Top 40, so add them today!

We have completed our search for new musicians to carry on doing Rock Done Right in San Antonio, and if the first rehearsal is any indication, this is going to be seriously badass! We still have a lot of your favorite tunes and a BUNCH of new ones on the way.

The new lineup, which will hit the stage at Revolution Room March 1, consists of Roy Eastwood on lead vocals and guitar, Ruben Rex on lead guitar, Jeff Sellers on drums, and myself, Steve Elliott, on bass and vocals. Roy and Jeff come to ALTER EGO by way of the very popular local cover bands Iris and Nemesis, while Ruben was with Grupo Metal and the Kumbia Kings. I hope the fans of those bands will come check the new project their friends are involved in.

I've been very, very lucky to have such a talented group of musicians come on board, and I thank everyone who called, texted and e-mailed me about the openings! I was really surprised there were so many drummers and vocalists available out there, and i know you'll all find the right band soon!

In the meantime, ALTER EGO will still be raising the roof all over San Antonio, including the SA Rodeo until Feb. 23, which is the last show for Brett, Paul, Tony and Jason. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how much fun I've had playing with these guys, and I hope it's been just as much fun for them. They have my respect and friendship for life.
