Message:   Hi Guy's, Just for the record, WE DO NOT keep Largemouth Bass we catch out of West Point Lake. We take pictures and release them. In addition to the reasons Johnny Chapman mentioned as the cause of Largemouth fishing not being as good as it used to be, the lake has become overpopulated with Spotted Bass which compete with Largemouth for food and eat a lot of Largemouth fry when they hatch. Other reasons are fluctuating water levels during the spawn and the lack of shoreline cover for baby Largemouth to hide in (West Point has no grass or weeds). I am sick and tired of hearing that a handfull of live bait guides have wiped out the Largemouth fishing on a 26,000 acre lake, especially when we don't keep them. Far more Largemouth are kept or killed by "artificial fisherman" than by a few live bait guides. All you have to do is go to a tournament weigh-in site the morning after and you will likely see more than a few dead Largemouth floating and a lot of others probably swam off and died. I have also seen countless Largemouth kept by "artificial fisherman" who eat them or stock their private ponds with them. Don't blame it on a few live bait guides. We RELEASE Largemouth Bass! Thanks, Paul Parsons Guide Service - West Point Lake
