Freedom of Speech die and I not read about it?
I know there are many groups looking to enact a law against it, but I'm sorry, I firmly believe that our founding fathers would have struck down such a law under principle.
There will always be people that don't agree with you. There will always be nutters. But once you decide who can say what and how, and who can't, you have just begun down that slippery slope and we may as well change the flag to something in red and black, with a crazy looking cross in the middle. If you get my drift.
On a personal note. Being native american, I firmly believe and will defend with my life, any native americans' right to desecrate the flag however they want. I'm not one of those guys that expect anything from America. I'm even against sporting teams that have changed their names (Eastern Michigan University will always be the Hurons to me). But I do believe that the native american peoples have paid enough in blood that they have earned that right. |
