rims

Hi guys,
I recently started with restoration of my Norton 16H 1939. Rims are in very poor condition. I have spare rims for my ES2 1959. Can I use them?

Re: rims

Hello Jan,

I am not sure you can use 1959 ES2 rims.
Those bikes had full width brake drums and relative short spokes which may influence the angle with which the spokes stick through the rim.

I guess the only way to find out is to try it.
If there is a slight misalignment I can hardly see it to be a problem unless you are going to add a sidecar or to race the bike.

Would you mind sharing some more info on your bike?

Cheers,

Rob

Re: rims

Hello Rob,
thank you for info. There is stamped „KOYO“ and they need a new chrome plating so I intended to use original rims or buy new ones with original marking. Unfortunately I found only full width hub types.

I bought my Norton from a friend who imported it from UK 2 years ago. This is 1939 WD 16H.
During last restoration there were used many unoriginal parts and replicas. I have bought most of original parts but I am still missing horn, 1" handlebars, civilian shock absorber adjustment wheel, rims and headlight.

I uploaded some old images here: http://koutnyjan.rajce.idnes.cz/
Today it is disassembled so I will add some more photos after restoration.
