oil pressure indicator

hello,
the oil pressure indicator of my norton 16h looses quite a lot oil when the engine is running. does anybody have a new one for sale or any ideas what could be done to seal that leak?
thx, martin

Re: oil pressure indicator

Martin - nobody has replied so - have a look in the WD 16H manual on this site. There should be a leather washer acting as a gland seal. This might need replacing with a thicker one so it is squeezed when the cover is screwed down onto it - or perhaps today a modern lip seal might be found?

Re: oil pressure indicator

I have bought some spares for my big 4 and there is an oil pressure tell tale with it.i wou.d likje to trade it for big 4 parts. I am looping for a gearbox speedo.drive rear, smiths speedo i dont know the correct onze my big 4 is from 1953. Or a main stand .

Re: oil pressure indicator

thanks for reply. the problem is solved. i had to tighten the cover screw.

Re: oil pressure indicator

as the tightened nut did not really solved the problem, i have added a self-made leather seal on top of the original felt seal today. there was no significant oil pouring out of the telltale after a 20km ride this afternoon. apparently the old school leather seal works.
