Dolls Head Gearbox Kick Start Spring

Hello,

My kick start spring is broken and needs replacing.

Is it necessary to remove the gearbox front cover, or can it be done by removing what appears to be a cover over the spring?

I have never had good experiences with a motorcycle gearbox.

Thank you for your help

Re: Dolls Head Gearbox Kick Start Spring

Hello Steve,

To replace the kick starter spring you only need to remove the bush fitted over it.
When ordering a new spring beware not to order a post war version, that will not fit correctly.
Racing Norton has the correct ones see https://racingnorton.co.uk:

Re: Dolls Head Gearbox Kick Start Spring

Hello Rob,

That is good news !

I presume the bush is a push fit which I can tap off.

Thank you for your kind help and guidance.

Cheers

Steve

Re: Dolls Head Gearbox Kick Start Spring

Steve,

It is indeed a push fit, slightly tap it sideways to get a small gap and then use a screwdriver to loosen it further.

Cheers,

Rob
