Completely agree. I do love it, infinitely better than the UK version. I may remember that another sleeve variation was with the Italian issue (on the Ricordi label), although much less enjoyable.

Wow!
I have never seen that cover here.
Must be sorta rare??

Alternate North American press Incredible Stringband first lp cover art beats the UK orig as well.

If not very rare, at least really scarce and difficult to find (in Mint shape).
I had the luck of finding a promo copy (with white A&M label in regular sleeve) many many years ago at Venus Records in Manhattan. Bur since I have seen it around very seldom.

Incidentally; anybody knows of other countries' sleeve (or track listing, for the matter) variations??

B.

Personally I prefer (slightly) the orig. UK laminated cover over the US one. The problem is to find a Mintish copy with the first white & green Elektra label! That's REALLY rare!

The US "Unhalfbricking" sleeve is, well, ugly, what were they thinking, ah wait, they were NOT thinking!

Yes, really bad choice here... If only they had chosen only the picture of the upper half of the front sleeve....

I agree with both those assessments, but I found both of those records for five bucks a piece, so good cover or bad, of course I picked them up both.
They were at a store that underpriced a lot of their sixties stuff and focused more on the post-punk to present stuff. Great store that's no longer in business (a familiar story) but much of my sixties l.p. collection comes from there and have little stickers with "4" "5" or "6" dollar stickers in the upper right hand corner!

There is a third cover variation of the self-titled lp.
It shows the group's faces on a black background with a Tiffany lamp hanging over them.
I have this copy and its a Canadian press.

Re: One of my fave LP covers--US version of "What we did on our holidays"´69

Actually, I think that's the only cover for the first album (the Tiffany lamp cover) unless I'm mistaken about that. The confusion comes from that first album that JJ posted with the band sitting in a pile of leaves which is also called "Fairport Convention" in the U.S. but is actually "What We Did On Our Holidays", their third album. I guess A&M weren't concerned that there was already an album called "Fairport Convention" (the Tiffany lamp one) and decided to market "What We Did On Our Holidays" as "Fairport Convention" in the States. Maybe they thought the whole holidays=vacation was too much for us to get our heads around?
I do think I lucked out with finding that album in great shape for 5 dollars though. It's a great record and I think the U.S. cover is rare-ish...

Oh! Dummy!
I didnt catch that.

...
I have a UK press reissue of the first lp . It has an ugly cover with a tilted photo of the group on a plain sienna-coloured (?) background.
I assumed that was the orig UK cover.

So the Tiffany cover IS the orig UK?

(Here in Leutonia where the bigger-selling better known UK bands were all pressed, its quite hard to come upon UK origionals of anything. I assume its the same in the US. We had our own presses.)
