Re: hawkwind

There was a Hawkwind discussion not so long ago if I remember rightly.
They seem to polarise people into the either love 'em or hate 'em camp.
I have their first five studio albums, from the self titled album up to Warrior On The Edge Of Time.
If I had to pick a favourite I think I'd go for Hall Of The Mountain Grill.

What about Hawkwind associate, sometime member Robert Calvert. I have and like his Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters album. Anyone else like this one?

Yes, Robbie, I recommend to go back to last year's discussion on Hawkwind.
I love their early/mid production and think everything to at least 'Warrior' is indispensible.
Their 2nd album and Doremi are probably my favourites.
Freak out with the 'wind!

Re: hawkwind

Hi Robbie, yeh as most of the others have said the first few albums are good with my fave being the album "In Search of Space"from "71,i like the debut album too which is produced by a Pretty Thing Dick Taylor, but this album aint as spacey as the others and the cd includes a marvellous version of Pink Floyds "Cymbaline"from the More soundtrack.Space Warriors indeed!!!!

Re: hawkwind

I think Hawkwind is fantastic. 'Hall Of the Mountain' Grill' is excellent, as are all the early albums, but I like some of the 80s stuff too like 'Sonic Attack' and 'The Chronicle Of The Black Sword' which are probably un-hip on this board.

Re: hawkwind

Yeah Eric, I liked "Church of Hawkwind" and that's a later Brock album. I agree that the first five are essential, but I enjoy "Quark Strangeness and Charm"which is a little later, too
