Manfred Mann Chapter III

Looking for some opinions on the above. I know they were supposedly more jazz fusion so this has put me off I guess. Also early Manfred Mann's Earthband. I know the hits but was interested in any info on their earliest stuff. Cheers.

Re: Manfred Mann Chapter III

First lp is absolute must-have. Not near as jazzy as Mann's Up The Junction soundtrack.

They say second was a letdown, but it still rings true for Wallace.

There is at least 20 minutes of a unreleased THIRD lp that is good also.

If you like WEB "I Spider" lp, you should like Chapter 3.

Re: Manfred Mann Chapter III

Karney-boyo be big Manfred Mann Chapter Three fan boy..If you have Sunforest 'The Sound Of' LP jump to track ''Magician in the Mountain" his particular track is very simular sounding..

Re: Manfred Mann Chapter III

Thanks for that. What about early Manfred Mann Earthband.
I know it's nothing like Chapter III but worth checking out?

Re: Manfred Mann Chapter III

Hi Greg,I dont know what the Earthband are like, but both chapter 3 albums are worth hearing, some real cracking tracks on them, just occassionally they get bogged down in some jazz fiddling about.

Re: Manfred Mann Chapter III

The only Earthband lp Wallace will have in the collection is the one with red & black plain cover (3rd??) which starts of with "Darkness" track. Others have their moments but are extremely patchy.

Re: Manfred Mann Chapter III

the roaring silence is an excellent album.

Re: Manfred Mann Chapter III

Would of been an excellent lp if that American

"Blinded by the Light" wasn't covered.

Everytime I hear "revved up like a deuce" I wanna shit.
And wtf with this???: "Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat"

Re: Manfred Mann Chapter III

Ah Wally,
don't dis da boss, his early stuff is excellent - Greatings from asbury park, The young the innocent & the e street shuffle, darkness on the edge of town, nabraska etc.

Great rock music and well worth a listen by the more open minded on this forum

Re: Manfred Mann Chapter III

The ''One Way Glass'' from Trifle 'First Meeting' LP is good.
