Well i picked up a wee curio today in a used cd store,The Wishful Thinking,Live volume 1 released on Deram.......man i wish i never,to look at the sleeve you would think you were picking up a psych delight or a flower power pop album, this to my ears is pretty lame ,a cd full of covers and old hat numbers too,Big Girls Dont Cry,Reach out Ill be there and some other insipid stuff tho they do cover Walk away Renee and Happy Together....im glad i only paid a fiver.......i really cant find any redeming things about the choice of material on here,i hate to be so negative about an album, but this is 2nd rate harmony pop,the only thing i like is the cover. Not a patch on their second album "Hiroshima"which is very good but came 3 years later,so if this is the same group they really pulled their socks up!!Its a shame "Hiroshima"hasnt had the cd treatment,as from what i've heard is pretty good stuff.
Anyone else heard this first Wishful THinking album?Am i way off the mark with my comments?Be good to know!!

Hi Wallace, yep you saw right,me no like something,im a great believer in bumming things up that you like gives out positive energy and to destroy something is a bit negative for me,but i just had to write about this as to my ears its pretty bloody bad. You're a cheeky wee devil Wallace!!LOL.
Re: The Wishful Thinking live vol1-Wishing i never
'Is She A Woman Now' is pretty good and I think one or two others, is 'V.I.P' on it? I haven't heard it for a long time but you're right, it's nothing like Horishima (which is on CD but from some time ago I think). 'Count To Ten' was my fave 45 by them. 'Live Vol.1' is very similar ot the Symbols album in that the apparently psychedelic sleeve design bears no relation to the content and both have similar sub-sunshine pop syle songs.
Re: The Wishful Thinking live vol1-Wishing i never
Ah no, I really like the Symbols LP. There isn't much psych on it (except maybe Pretty City) so the sleeve is misleading, but its a solid late 60s pop LP.
I've been tempted by that Wishful Thinking LP numerous times, but have always resisted because of the track list and it was also never cheap enough to take the risk.

Wow they don't make women like that anymore! Something from the chorus line in the great jazz age in N.Y,
