I may have raised this before, but my aging memory fails me on occasions. I am curious to know how many of you own multiple editions of the same album / set of albums / artist's entire repertoire.

For instance I would imagine mor than a few have all the Small Faces or Pretty Things output more than once on differing formats(I know I have). This can often be due to marketing tactics, differing editions having extra tracks or better oe m ore recent sound mastering / packaging etc. I have all the Clash's albums three times over as box sets all on CDs.

Sometimes this sort of thing is almost accidental and only comes to be realised when re-exploring the darker or more neglected regions of one's strage system! other times it's because both original LPs or CDs and later more exotically packaged reissues have been bought at different times. So, who, how and why do you own in multiple editions???

I think i'm up to about six copies of the Tomorrow album. I got it on Decal, then, found it on Import Records with Teenage Opera stuck on there. Then found a reissue that proported to be mono then wasn't (Guerrson I think?) it just said mono on the sleeve. Then i think i got a copy that had the My White Bicycle poster inside, and a flipback cover. And now it seems Record Store Day has put out the mono version. Maybe that's just five? Anyway, if i want to hear the Tomorrow album, I have no shortage of options now.

i think i have 4 cd albums of Love Affair purely for the odd different track looking forward to their boxset purely because i love the groups music has a definite inside effect definitely a huge fan

I have multiple copies of several albums (some entire discographies), and it's for the reasons you've already commented on Paul. Anytime a favourite is remastered - hopefully with the addition of bonus tracks - I'm jumping in like a good little consumer.

I know I'll be missing some, but here goes:
The Beatles discography - original CD's (from 1987) / The Capitol Albums box sets (volume 1 & 2) / The Original Studio Recordings box set (stereo) / The Beatles In Mono box set / The U.S. Albums box set and I still have a half dozen original vinyl LP's framed and hanging in the family room.

Led Zeppelin discography - original CD's / the ongoing deluxe edition remasters

Had multiple versions of Who / Faces / Kinks and others...just cleared em out recently and gave them to friends as they were just taking up space.
Same reasons, tantalized by the extras! Had the SF on vinyl and prob. 3 times over on CD too.

Yeah I cleared out some unnecessary copies of some stuff but I kept a hold of mono & stereo versions of all my faves where possible. Gotta have Piper, SF Sorrow and Who Sell out in both mixes as they're quite different and both great.

I agree about Piper and S.F. Sorrow. My mono copies are reissues, but i'm just glad to have them and they were affordable that way. Great in mono.
