Re: Music Hall

Many a "psych" lp has been ruined by the ubiquitous musichall track.

East-coast psych lps in particular - I think it was a Harvard type of thing.

One comes immediately to mind: Cream - that "Baby went down the plughole" last track on the Derailleur Gears lp

Re: Music Hall

Tiny Tim

Winchester Cathedral

Harry Nillsen

Rainbow Ffolly

Procol - Mabel

Move - Zing

Satanic Majesties Request first track

You know what would truely be HELL?
Teenage McCartney,Davy Jones and Phil Collins song-and-dance/hamming it on stage.

How many Beatles lps been totally fucked-up by McCartney's 20s-50s pastiche cack?
Your Mother Should Know, my ass.

Monkees "Head" would have been a pop-psych masterpiece if it wasn't for Artful Dodger-Jones throwing sand into the gears with an atrocity the likes of "Daddy's Song". (And "Cuddly Toy" on another lp)

Was it mainly a Uk thing (due to Victoriana)?

Some US examples:

Fallen Angels (US band???)

first Electric Prunes

Seem to recall FREAKSCENE "PSYCHEDELIC SOUL" had one of these vocoder-type 20s musichall tracks - but do not quote me: maybe it was just one of those dated politorant spoken word tracks.

I would think Van Dyke Parks "Song Cycle" concept lp would have some of this.

Re: Music Hall

Ian Whitcomb- Poor But Honest
