Compilation Index

Dear readers,
As issue 1 of Write Hear eZine draws near, I wanted to add a bonus something to launch it with. To this end, I have uploaded my ‘compilations index’. This is nothing grand but hopefully useful. You can download it from the dropbox link below:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/trzlcmviyebt9wm/AAApA7FvvD4QnLhthu7KHqeSa?dl=0

The compilations thus far collated are as follows:

Electric Asylum (6 volumes)
Fading Yellow (15 volumes)
Mixed Up Minds (10 volumes)
New Rubble (8 volumes)
Pet Records releases (10 volumes)
Piccadilly Sunshine (20 volumes)
Pop Cycles (12 volumes)
Psychic Circle individual releases series (34 volumes).

Although the comps database homed at Ugly Things is extremely useful and far wider than I can attempt, not all the series listed above are complete there. Plus here, I have alphabetically listed the artists by name followed by the volume number and track number discreet within their own series, so each series is self-contained. There is an introductory outline in the download that explains this. Quite by chance, many of the series I have documented so far are Particles / Past & Present, but not all. I hope readers will be able to make use of these when seeking out specific tracks that you know are in a series but can’t recall which volume or track number. This will hopefully be able to direct you straight to it rather than pulling out all the physical volumes to scrutinise each one.

Some of these series are now ‘closed’ others are I assume continuing. For these, rather like a Panini sticker album, you can just add the latest volumes to the existing listings I have made. I did this as a word file so this would be easy to do.

Re: Compilation Index

Thanks for doing this Paul, it's certainly going to come in handy...
There's been many a time I've had to do exactly as you mention: "pull out all the physical volumes to scrutinise each one" to find where that particular track is that was just posted on the 'I LIke Pop-Psych' FaceBook page (for example)

Much appreciated Sir.

Re: Compilation Index

Thank you Paul. You're a scholar and a gentleman!

Re: Compilation Index

Thanks both! BTW - readers will of course have found there are 7 volumes not 8 as posted of the New Rubble series - 6 released and Vol.7 that went unreleased, there isn't a volume 8, I just didn't check properly!

Re: Compilation Index

Much appreciated Paul!

Re: Compilation Index

You're welcome - there are also 35 not 34 volumes in the Psychic Cirle set, I never was any good at maths!

Re: Compilation Index

Re: Compilation Index

Uploading Vol 3 now.
Will post dropbox link and tracklist when it's done.
I'm away the weekend. I'll try and do a few more when I get back.

Re: Compilation Index

I remember receiving about 8 vols. of these all at once and for about 3 months I used to listen to them in my bed at night.
As well as shed loads of prev. uncomped pop-psych, I loved the fact that they would also sometimes surprise with offerings of Soul, Glam Rock & Shirley Bassey!
Not all of it was always to my taste but I had a lot of fun with them. Some of the material has since popped up on comps on Particles etc but most of the best tunes on Pop Cycles still remain exclusive to the series.
Enjoy!
