The End - From Beginning To The End - 4x cd box set!

Just saw this on Amazon UK as being out November 20th for about £18

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beginning-End/dp/B015NHXM18/ref=sr_1_28?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1445431410&sr=1-28&keywords=cd+box+set

Oddly it's on Edsel, I would have thought Graprefruit would have been the label of choice for this being all the End stuff was reissued by 10th Planet originally.

Anyway, this will be a great addition to anyone's collection if it collects everything together that was on the 10th Planet vinyl albums. I have those, but they've been out of print for years and I love them all from their beat group to their pre-Tucky Buzard days. I hope it is indeed a clamshell box set with four card sleeves as Grapefruit would ususally use and not an 8 panel fat digipak with plastic retainer clips as Edsel are more inclined to use.

Whatever, I'm just pleased it looks like everything will be in one place. I can't find anything about it on the net other than similar posts to this on the Steve Hoffman website. So do post a track listing if you can find one.

Re: The End - From Beginning To The End - 4x cd box set!

I would assume there's one disc each for:

The End - In The Beginning
The End - Introspection
The End - Retrospection
The End - The Last Word (1969-70)

Other than the actual album 'Intropsection', the other three are the 10th Planet vinyl anthologies. None have ever made it to CD except for the German Rockingbeat label's 'Retrospection' collection (not sure if that equates to the 10th Planet vinyl one or not) as far as I know. These are all great anyway. There again, not being on Grapefruit perhaps there's something other than this. One to watch I think.

Wow, great news! Guess they finally got abkco to sign off on the project. Looking forward to getting rid of my old cd-rs! Edsel did a great job on the 4 cd sets of the 80s band the sound so assume this will be of comparable quality.

Briil, thanks for the link. Great, this is a card sleeved clamshell box (I get excited by that sort of thing, sadly!). Amazing to think how long ago half of this was in then quickly out of circulation on vinyl and never heard of since, given how highly regarded it is. At least it's coming in a handy little box now.

Agreed, this is great news and I too, will be able to put the CD'R copies of In The Beginning, Retrospection and The Last Word in the landfill.

Got my copy yesterday. Very nice looking box with Phil Smee art work on labels, box and booklet. Nice to see that the 10th Planet vinyl LP covers have been used for the CD sleeves as well, although 'In the Beginning' has not been reproduced as a gatefold sleeve as the LP is. So it looks very glossy and sleek. The booklet is packed full of pics and David Well's liner notes. Quite a substantial package really. Now to play the set.

Hiya Paul, yes i got The End clamshell boxed set yesterday too.Im listenin to the" The Last Word" cd of this set and its bloody brilliant,i had only heard some of this music via cd swapping years ago,the sound on this cd is very good and im listening to it through headphones at the mo and the song "Second Glance"is playing at the moment and its a superb song in great sound quality too!!!As Paul has already stated the packaging is very good,it really is a lovely boxed set and at £16 its a steal!!Anyone into 60s UK psych, pop and rock really needs to hear this....i was so jealous when the 3 Tenth Planet albums wwre issued in the 90s as i had no record player and i knew i was missing something special....well here we are at last after all those years its out on cd...and i was right it is something special,The End were a great band and deserved so much more in their time. The song"So Free"is now playing, just so good with the yummy harpsichord playing.I have had a quick listen through the other cds of rare gear and wow!!!Great sounding stuff....Cant wait to spin those with the headphones on!!!Sorry for blethering so long,i honestly feel this could be the best cd box set...ever!!!!!LOL!!!
