Product Description
Product Description
Disc One features their 1967 singles recorded with Winwood replacements Phil Sawyer and Eddie Hardin, including the pop psyche classics 'Time Seller' and 'Mr Second Class'. Also their recordings used in the film soundtrack 'Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush'. The second half of Disc One comprises their 1968 single and album recorded with Sawyer's replacement Ray Fenwick, who brought with him the excellent 'After Tea' (co-written with Dutch Tee Set pop master Hans Van Eijck). Album With Their New Face On is a mix of jazzy R&B and pop psychedelia. The standout R&B track is 'Don't Want You No More', which was later covered by The Allman Brothers. Disc Two boasts their rare, Germany-only single, and the US only LP Funky recorded in 1969 by Fenwick and Davis plus Nigel Olsson and Dee Murray (just before they joined Elton John). Also included is the theme to the TV show Magpie, originally recorded in 1968, and the groovy, heavy psych single 'Short Change'. RPM is pleased to finally be able to serve up previously unreleased BBC Sessions, recorded through 1968 around the promotion of With Their New Face On. These are coupled on Disc Three with live tracks and other rarities for which tapes have been archived, plus interesting alternative versions discovered down the years.

Product Description
The British duo only enjoyed one domestic hit, 'Yesterday's Gone' (UK #37, US #21), but rode the British Invasion wave in the States, racking up an additional five hits, including the perennial 'A Summer Song' (#7), as well as 'Willow Weep For Me' (#15), 'If I Loved You' (#23), 'What Do You Want With Me' (#51) and 'From A Window' (#97), before being snapped up by major label Columbia. Their repertoire of pop originals, folk songs and standards was delivered in a distinctive soft-pop style with accompaniment ranging from simple acoustic to beat electric and lush orchestral. All-stereo Disc One comprises the US LPs 'Yesterday's Gone' and 'Chad & Jeremy Sing For You' in their entirety, plus the duo's contributions to the Various Artists LP Live Folk From The Mayfair Theatre London. Disc Two comprises all singles in mono, plus outtakes, alternative takes and stereo versions of non-LP tracks. Studio sessions produced in London by John Barry and Shel Talmy, and in NYC by Jimmie Haskell. London sessions, including six live tracks, freshly remastered from original Ember tape sources. Previously unreleased track: 'Lemon Tree' (stereo version), plus first official release of 'It Was A Very Good Year' (stereo version) and 'From A Window' (alternative take).

Re: New Spencer Davis Group and Chad & Jeremy CDs

I've had the Spencer Davis set on pre-order a while now, looking forward to it packaged in card sleeves and a clam box. I never did buy it when RPM put this out as a fat digipak in 2004. I assume this is just the same track listing in different packaging?

I'd also really lik to see the Mike D'arbo /Fontana era Manfred Man recordings (1966-8) presented in the clam box style, they'd make a good complimentary pair musically. There was a Japanese mini LP CD set which seldom comes up now, but in the Uk there's just the always jewel cased 'Asent of Man' set.
