Product Description
For the first time outside Sweden, over its two discs, Svenska Shakers collects 41 choice cuts from the period when Sweden’s world-class bands beat the musical exports at their own game. The R&B crunchers, mod grooves, freakbeat and psych-pop featured demonstrate that Sweden more than came up with the goods between 1964 and 1968.
This stunning compilation is rounded off with a fully illustrated booklet and comprehensive liner notes. Anyone into the best of Sixties music needs Svenska Shakers.

Re: Svenska Shakers

A lot of this looks familiar from the last Storapopboxen set, but I gues this is a cheaper way of getting it.

By the way, there's a very good documentary DVD on the Namelosers who feature in this collection called 'rolling like a stone'

It's ostensibly about the Rolling Stones 1965 Scandinavian tour - and there is some footage of them on it. However, it's really about the Swedish group The Namelosers who supported them on their dates in Sweden on the tour. It's set in the present and reflects on the past. being Scandinavian it is bleak and dark as the former members were all in reduced circumstances at the time it was made a few years back now. It is though a very good and indeed moving watch (e.g. one of the members dies shorty after a lone re-union gig)as well as an excellent insight into how much something like this still means to people who were there.
