Re: Canadian 60's

Sounds good Phil, looking forward to hearing this - thanks!

Re: Canadian 60's

There was an excellent 4 x CDR set some years ago compiled by someone on another group called 'Great White Wonders'which was mainly mid 60s Canadian garage.

Peter Tessier - By Turning a Knob 1973

This album ranks among the very top tier of Canadian major label rarities, right up there with It's All Meat and The Jarvis Street Review. Actually, it's substantially rarer than either of these two, but remains so obscure as to not even have much of a reputation among collectors. Though descriptions as 'prog/psych' are not totally without merit, this struck me as little more than folk influenced semi-comm male vocal rock, with very high quality mat'l. It certainly may strike many as quite weird, as it's eccentricities are bountiful. But being from a genre that I typically don't get too excited about would normally get tepid grades from me. Instead, this stands out as something special to me, and I'm glad to have found an original copy. Tessier had apparently made a name for himself as a quality producer prior to trying his hand at his own recording. Unfortunately, his personal demons got the better of him, and he committed suicide not long after this was released, no doubt adding to it's mystique.
