Buried Alive!! Demented Teenage Fuzz From Down Under 1965 – 1970 (6CD box set)

Buried Alive!! Demented Teenage Fuzz From Down Under 1965 – 1970 (6CD box set w/80 page full colour, perfect bound booklet) released 17/2/17

(alas it’s on Particles so it's largely a recycling exercise of what they or others have already compiled elsewhere.)

Nonetheless, if you don't have that many Australian / NZ 60s collections, there's plenty of good tunes on here.

150 Rare and Previously Unreleased R&B, Psyche, Punk Cuts!!!
• Full-colour 80 page, perfect bound booklet with detailed group biographies and rare images

The world down under produced some of the most ferocious and provocative sounds to have emerged from planet earth in the 1960s.
Crammed full of fuzz, distortion, feedback, phasing and wild dementia, this menacing and uncompromising sound was the precursor to punk rock as we know it. BURIED ALIVE!! conjures up a superb collection of rampant amphetamine fury, jammed tight with the most venomous, vile and repulsive 60s delinquency ever put together.
Definitely not for the faint-hearted!! This landmark, limited edition 6-disc anthology culls together 150 long lost sounds of toxic, teenage rebellion from Australasia. Includes rare and previously unreleased material. Caution: Things sure get UGLY!!
Professionally re-mastered original sound recordings with expansive liners, rare archival imagery, previously unreleased recordings and bonus material. An absolute MUST for true fans of the 1960s punk underground!! BURIED ALIVE!! is the first ever definitive box set devoted purely to Australasian 1960s beat, punk and psych.

Re: Buried Alive!! Demented Teenage Fuzz From Down Under 1965 – 1970 (6CD box set)

Pretty broad coverage, with a mix of well known through to unknown, but I suppose like any compilation there are things missing that you would like to see there.

Re: Buried Alive!! Demented Teenage Fuzz From Down Under 1965 – 1970 (6CD box set)

With all of the Aussie/NZ comps (legit or otherwise) that have come out over the last 20 years or so, there's not really much here that diehards have not already heard.

Also, I would not expect the booklet to have any kind of in depth information if the liners to the Upside Down series are any indication. Given that something of this scope would probably not be a money maker for a legitimate label, labels like Particles step in and fill a certain gap in the market.

Re: Buried Alive!! Demented Teenage Fuzz From Down Under 1965 – 1970 (6CD box set)

As already mentioned - not a lot new, but at the right price it would make a great travel companion

Re: Buried Alive!! Demented Teenage Fuzz From Down Under 1965 – 1970 (6CD box set)

It's certainly that! I've just played the first disc and it's pretty much all full-on freakbeat; weired guitar solos and fuzz r'n'b, at least for the first 15 or so, then they are a bit more straight forward r'n'b but still nice and raw. The soud is very good as well (through my little top loader portable Bose player anyway), the lead solos really zing out at you! The main problem here is the lettering / liners in the booklet and on the back of the card sleeves. More consideration should have been given to the colour of the lettering against a green b/w background in the booklet that makes them hard to read and on the sleeves the lettering could be a bit bigger. Nonetheless once your eyes ajust, it 's all discernable at least!
