Neil Innes

R.I.P. Neil Innes. I just recently found out about his group The World, whose album “Lucky Planet” would appeal to any fans of Beatles-influenced pop with an early 70’s feel. Of course he did a lot of other stuff as well, with Eric Idle and the Rutles, and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band I’m not really a historian of that band which goes back to the early sixties, but I know that Neil innes was responsible for some of their more pop moments like “I’m an Urban Spaceman” or “Equestrian Statue” as they evolved and did things like write music for the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour special.

Re: Neil Innes

Gone but not forgotten.
A fond farewell to a great guy who bridged two of the best types of medicine - music and comedy. His 1970 beatlesque LP Lucky Planet by the World is indeed a serious musical adventure.
