The Herd "The Purple God" BBC Session????

Does anyone here know of or have this song? I just read about it in the liner notes of the new Glass Menagerie CD, and I thought I had everything by The Herd.

Re: The Herd "The Purple God" BBC Session????

The track is on this compilation
Various ‎– British Psychedelic Rock At The BBC 1967-1969

the vinyl is on ebay for a tenner but if I find the track I will post it

Re: The Herd "The Purple God" BBC Session????

maybe you meant 3x tenner... sigh, much too much for me,as there would be also two other volumes

Re: The Herd "The Purple God" BBC Session????

Here it is for a Tenner[no bidders yet]

Re: The Herd "The Purple God" BBC Session????

Great info, but I just looked at the one for a tenner, and it does not have The Purple God on it

I found a copy on Discogs for 35, and that's not ridiculous, but looking at the tracklist I think I have all but 3 or 4 tracks on other BBC collections, so 35 for 3 or 4 tracks does feel steep.

Re: The Herd "The Purple God" BBC Session????

I assume it's the same track that is on the Judas Jump-Scorch album from 1970. Andy Bown was in both bands and wrote it.

Apologies Keith I see my error now sorry for leading you up the wrong path

Re: The Herd "The Purple God" BBC Session????

Ah, no worries, you helped me find anyway. I just don't know if I want to pay 35 for it.

Re: The Herd "The Purple God" BBC Session????

There are only a few Herd songs I really like, and those are generally the two on the last 45 Sunshine Cottage, as posted above, and one or two others with Frampton.
But one exception is this pre-Frampton song that may have borrowed a bit too much from the Who, but still sounds great. They spell Andy Bown wrong on the label, noticeably, but it’s a great 60’s track that I spin this 45 a lot since I found a copy a few years back.
