Sad to report he succumbed to the horrid Coronavirus thinking he just had a cold. Forever remembered for the should have been greater band The Arrows (I remember their mid 70s TV show) and providing Joan Jet with a hit single in 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll'. I prefer to remember his debut (Japan only?) album from 1971 and the lovely track 'Tranquility'. Here it on youtube:
sad... he was also in the great Streak at the beginning... This song sounds great!
if anyone has the whole album ... many thanks, I can't find all the tracks on the tube..
Yes Gian, Streak were an excellent band and still so unknown outside of junk shop glam collectors. There is enough material (both singles and unreleased recordings) to make a modest anthology from. Robin Wills of the Purepop webiste is a great supporter of them.:slightly_smiling_face:
Does anyone know where I can get more info on The Streak I checked it out on Discogs but AM wasnt listed in the band so if anyone has a list of singles etc I would be interested
Also another of Merill's pre- Arows bands Vodka Collins (Japanese again). Robin Wills who runs the Purepop blog is a big fan of Streak and acquired acetates of unreleased recordings a few years back, some of which if I remember rightly found their way on to the vinyl only Ultimate Bonehead series.
I had a CDR once with all the known Streak recordings on it (at that time anyway). No idea what happened to it but I just found the track list, with thanks to Robin Wills for originally putting these up on his blog:

Alan Merril real name is Allan Preston Sachs and for what I found he was only in the very first line-up of Streak (in NYC), could be that one or more songs recorded by this line-up are in the The Arrows & Friends – Tawny Tracks CD, can't find a detailed track listing for this release. So all the Deram/A&M of the 11 trcks comp. should be without Merrill
