Someone kindly gifted me a box of CD's recently as I've been working my way through them I came across a cd by a band called Election. What a superb slice of late 60s psychedelic folk. There are so many layers to their music. I'm not sure how this slipped under the radar for me I tried to find out more about one of the female members called Kerrilee Male but nothing surfaced.
This album could surely do with a re release as I noticed in discogs a lot of the cd re issues had sound probs luckily my copy was fine
I also noticed a female singer called Dorris Henderson took over from Kerrilee Male>Dorris also recorded some great albums in the late sixties especially one with John Renbourn check em out on you tube
Phil,Eclection were an international band as they had a few different nationalities playing,Trevor Lucas who was Australian who became Sandy Dennys partner was in Eclection and of course he went on to play in Fotheringay,and various Sandy Denny recordings along with his own Solo stuff!!Unfortunately there was a cd reissue by Collectors Choice which had a terrible mastering,a really tinny jangly noise going on,which ruined it,but thankfuly Esoteric label reissued the album a few years ago with much improved sound and mastering,also a couple of extra tracks,but NO BBC sessions,which are meant to be very good,though ive still to hear them.I agree its a fab wee album,witb a west coast type of folk rock sound and some of that sunshine vocal and psychy moments,you'd think this was an artefact from this area,playing next to the likes of Growing Concern or Eternitys Children and the likes!!Nice album!!
