is this a cover version?

every time I play this recent lovely slice of neo psych/garage I convince myself it's a cover version but I just can't nail it if it is.

Re: is this a cover version?

Hi DG
Can't say it sounds like anything I've heard. The track "Tick Tock" is pretty good. Shame they revert to indie pop stylings at times as the psych tracks are pretty decent. Full album on YT for those that want to listen.

Re: is this a cover version?

According to this it was written by the band.

Re: is this a cover version?

thanks for that guys, yeah it's interesting that the track is sandwiched between 2 covers on the album but the lyrics on "bomb" seem to differ a bit from the TVP's version.

Re: is this a cover version?

Hey, I'm glad you dig it. As the song's author, I can assure you it's not a cover, but on the other hand it's most certainly influenced by stuff I was listening to at the time. I'm guessing this one was influenced by some of the numbers on the Prisoners' Taste of Pink LP. If you're interested in checking out more Dupont Circles stuff, you can hear the entire album here. https://thedupontcircles.bandcamp.com/album/in-search-of-the-family-gredunza

Cheers,

Re: is this a cover version?

Thank you for confirming that Michael, I'm made up that you have responded here. Did you make any of the recordings during lockdown?. My next homework is to check out The Prisoners, good luck to you moving forward.

Re: is this a cover version?

Thanks Doc. No, none of the recordings were made during lockdown (though I did use the forced time at home to write some new songs). Here's some Prisoners for your listening pleasure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4j7RwdKDNvY
