Whoa! Whoa! & thrice Whoa! I'm super excited about this recent find. For those who may not know Acid Tapes was established by Alan Duffy in 1983 and later taken over and run by Steve Lines until 2015.
It was a label that put out some great underground music. Featuring bands such as The Chemistry Set, Effervescent Elephants, Alices Orb, Kitchen Cynics and many more. Acid Tapes operated as a mail order distribution and had 167 titles in its catalogue. The full catalogue is available to view at Rate Your Music.
Thanks to Smeade96 all the tapes have been located and are being offered on Acid Tapes Bandcamp as FREE downloads. 87 titles are available but more should be coming in the future. I highly recommend that you pay a visit and download some or all as there are many psychedelic gems tucked in amongst the indie titles.
Maybe try these for starters: The Tryp - My Mind Exploded, Thee Trouble - Swinging London '69-'91, The Narc Twins - Life With Lemons, The Jabberwockies - ST, The Chemistry Set - ST
Seems like it might be a case of "you snooze you lose" as the download links are no longer available. My guess is that there may have been some sort of legal issue regarding file sharing. Well done if you managed to grab them whilst you could. If you follow the links on Rate Your Music some are available on YT & Spotify. I've also found some on SS. The streams on Bandcamp are still active and you could get them from there if you know how and are in no rush.
