Sydinmyheart4ever and I did a bit of mailing back and forth and he recommended I listen to his fave DJ George Markou who posts his radio shows on Mixcloud. He has many shows each about 2 hours in duration which you can listen to here https://www.mixcloud.com/george-parkou/
I went through the artists credited on each show and compiled a list totalling around 300 bands and artists. I looked them up on Discogs and searched on SS for the ones that sounded promising. After listening to a helluva lot of albums I finally arrived at this list of keepers. It's a potpourri of psych, garage, space rock, mod and ye-ye. I dare say if you did similar you'd come up with an entirely different list depending on your likes (there's a fair amount of proggy, folky, stoner, indie & experimental stuff that isn't my thing but it might be yours).
