Unknown UK Prog Folk Rock from the early Seventies
This cassette tape has been haunting me for decades now... in the end I put some snippets on the Tube, let's hope someone could help in identifying this band!
Re: Unknown UK Prog Folk Rock from the early Seventies
It's taped from an acetate from the sound of distortion and crackle,so someone out there has the original.
There's some structural similarities to Fuschia in the rhythmn guitar, last track at circa 15mins has a vocal thats reminiscent of Fish from Marillion (!) in the vocal stylisations, and then it's a a bit like Peter Hammill...wouldn't it be nice if it was a pre VDGG folk rock outfit by Hammill... It has the keyboards.
I think the only hope here is to analyse the lyrics for clues.
Was Steerpike (acetate)ever discovered and heard or was that a fabrication? It's not Roundabout (Eden).
There were droves of talented bands who didn't get released, it's a pro outfit, well written and structured, surely they played the college circuits, probably one of those unknown lost bands that decorate gig advertisements from the times like Tiggy Stopes or Blizzard.
It's better than so much that did get released . There's a bit of a Forest sound in places too at times, but it's more rock than folk.

Nice work Doctor Gaz. Sound so English but are actually from Detroit of all places. They sound completely different to anything from those times coming from the motor city.
