Hi,
Just received Vol.21 of Fading Yellow from Hot Stuff in Sweden. It's a very nice ride on the ears and a global collection with a good number of tunes I've never heard before including British ones ('The Manderine Kraze' anyone?). Also, it's a 21 track / 60 minute long disc. Be aware though that the liner note booklet only goes up to track 16 and ends in the middle of a sentence! I've just asked about this in case it's not all copies that are affected.
According to discogs the Canticle title was a misprint on the record label and should read "Someone Put The Light Out". It's good to see David McNeil included, he made a lot of fine records and was based in France.

Hi Paul,
I just received my copy yesterday and the booklet has the same issue as you mentioned...
Have you heard back from Hot Stuff?
I have tried this as a stand alone link (rather than the 'click here' highlight they provide) but just get a 'doesn't go anywhere' message. So if you need the extra pages and have not had a an email update from Hot Stuff, email me off list and I can send you an adobe pdf of them.

Hi Paul,
Yes, I got the same e-mail from HotStuff yesterday as well (I was kind of hoping they'd send a complete updated booklet, but this will have to do). Sort of an addendum I suppose?
Poor show as those Fading Yellow comps aren't that cheap.
My copy has the same problem, it's inexcusable to release this as is,knowing that you're releasing a product with such an obvious mistake and not offering at least an addition of those 4 Missing pages
I noticed it's with a company called Busy Bee, which seems to be a new collaboration between Flower music and Busy Bee so this is NOT a good start, missing 4 pages of liners, that no doubt had photos too on them.
The whole aesthetic of the look of the art seems a bit different from the usual Fading Yellow artwork, this seems obviously more computer generated, and for me isn't as beautiful looking or indeed representative of the time period Fading Yellow covers, maybe it's just me, but the liners do seem more thorough, so it's a real pity that 4 pages are missing.
The music is very enjoyable as are most Fading Yellow volumes, this volume seems to feature more singer/songwriter like fare, with less of the usual string laden, Baroque, harmony pop with the usual psych influences in the songs that gave a fabulous mix to this long running series and makes it so popular.
The popsike mentioned in the title seems less obvious to me sound wise, though as I said the music is very enjoyable, and it's always great to have the British contingent represented which indeed there are quite a few on this volume, featuring the early 70s very well also.
I take it it's still Jorgen Johansson compiling Fading Yellow?but I see no mention of him in the liners or on the package.
A worthy addition to the Fading Yellow catalogue, but the Missing pages of the booklet is inexcusable,as surely this glaring mistake must have been noticed somewhere along the making of this package? How could this be missed?
No excuse really for something this glaring and which does spoil this package a bit as it's frustrating to not have the intentioned full package, though I do prefer this mode of packaging design compared to the old jewel casings.
Busy Bee must get better reigns on its packaging quality control or find a new printer for future volumes as this booklet mistake is very sloppy.
Those missing pages must be offered up on a website somewhere which are easily accessable to print off for those who have bought this volume!! It's the only remedy, if not that's a poor show in my opinion!!
Busy Bee have put out the latest 4 Fading Yellow CDs plus the latest volumes of Diggin' For Gold (++), and they usually do a stellar job. The missing pages with FY 21 was due to a mistake at the printer's.
I don't think JJ is very involved with FY these days, if at all. It seems like Erik Meinen has taken over his role, and I have to say I much prefer his liner notes to JJ's. I also think the sound quality has improved. Some of the earlier volumes have a rather muffled sound.
I can live with the missing pages since they provided a DL link, but I am not a fan of the front cover art this time. It has that AI look which I really hate.
