My friend is around 60 years old and has had a hard life. He fought in the army (vietnam, I think... I may be incorrect). After he got out of the military he became a fireman. While working as a fireman many years ago, he and two of his coworkers were on top of a roof which collapsed during a building fire. My friend was electrocuted during the collapse. He survived but was severely burned and it cost him his arm. One of his coworkers did not survive the collapse. The other was paralyzed and eventually committed suicide.

My friend was in a lot of pain (especially before they amputated his arm - they spent a while trying to save it). No amount of medications took his pain completely away. He also experienced a lot of survivors guilt. It wasn't long before my friend was addicted to heroin (it worked much better than the opiates which were failing to relieve him). He spent many years using heroin and a lot of other drugs.

About a month ago my friend was told that he has 4 months to live. His heart is failing. The doctors put him on all kinds of medication. There was an interaction which caused him to have a psychotic break. During the psychotic episode, someone threw a rake like a javelin (they were just angry, not really aiming for anything). The rake sailed through the air and hit my friend right in his eye. The eye was destroyed on impact.

God used that rake to save more than my friends life.

He would never have known about the interaction if he hadn't gone to the emergency room. The doctor there said he surely would have died from the interaction.

My friend went to the Harvest Crusade just days after. When the alter call happened, there was no keeping up with him. He was already halfway down to the field.

My friend says that even though he had two eyes he was blind before, and that God had to take one of his eyes so he could see. My friend also says that life is wonderful.

If you were on to meet my friend on the street, you might be deceived by his appearance. He only has one arm, has burn scars, a lot of his teeth have been destroyed by years of drug addiction, and he is missing an eye. But I tell you this; he is one of the most beautiful people I have ever known.

The beauty and grace that God is pouring out through this man is humbling. God has not only saved his soul, but has delivered him from his alcohol and drug addictions. This man who I previously avoided (because of his drug use) has now become my brother.

Please pray for my friend. His heart is only working at 30%. They said he needs a pacemaker to live. Otherwise he is not expected to make it past the end of the year.

He says he is ready to go if God wants to take him home. He does have a desire to live, and he wishes that he could have enough time to make some amends with his family.

He has good medical insurance through the fire department, and also he is a veteran. The doctors are taking their time about the pacemaker. They had to do surgery on him to remove the eye, and then they thought he was too weak to have the pacemaker surgery. My friend has recovered a lot, and every time he tries to find out about the pacemaker he feels like they are brushing him off because he is "old and has a history of drug abuse" he says.

Please pray for a miracle for my friend. He is a miracle and he deserves one.

Also please pray for my job. My boss committed suicide last year and his widow sold our company to another company. I really like the new environment, and the people are really great, I'm just feeling a bit insecure. Please pray that my employment is secure and that I remain an integral part of the team. I'm a single mom and sometimes I just get overwhelmed and worry too much. Please ask God to comfort me.
