Re: Wages during the 1st year

Some thing to consider when you're figuring your gross to date pay. First, you say you've been with CRST for six months and have only made $9393.00. Okay, how long was the training at CRST? What were you paid during training? When did you actually get your own truck? Let's look at this a little. - Abitrary figures, but it should help. Say your training took two months. 6-2=4 months left. If you were paid $300.00 a week during training then 8x$300.00=$2400.00 $9393.00 - $2400.00 = $6993.00 Divide that by 4 months and you're earning an average of $1748.25 a month or approximately $437.00 a week.

Now let's run it even further and these are just for illustration... Let's say you are being paid $0.25 per mile. At that rate, $437.00/$.0.25 = 1748 paid miles per week.

Now it's time for reality, with those figures and just looking at it, I would say you aren't running the miles to make the pay you want. It could be that the dispatchers aren't giving you the miles or you could be a victim of circumstance. In order for you to make $30,000 a year, gross, you'll have to run close to 2310 miles a week. If you figure your hours and plan smartly, you can legally run well over 2900 miles a week as long as you're given them.

Regardless of the job you take in trucking, unless you get paid hourly, miles are going to rule.

Also, since you're half way to "forgiveness" of your training debt, I strongly urge you to tough it out and run, run, run those miles until you're free and clear of at least that debt.

Good luck!!

I have been with CRST for 6 months. I took their training program. So far my total earnings are $9393.00. I don't see how I'll get to $30,000, that the recruiter said I'd make the 1st year. I have chance at another job, do I pay the $3600 for training to take this other position? Or do I argue they misrepresented my potential income? I don't see how I can make twice as much in the next 6 months?

Any feedback is appreciated.
