Dear Partners World Wide, I bring to you my (Dr. Diana Brevan) ponderings this today. May the Lord richly bless you and yours as we go right into to today’s ponderings prayer and the Word.
Love God, Love People
Matthew 22:35-40 (NKJV) 35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 “This is the first and great commandment. 39 “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 “On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Love God. It sounds easy, until we think of what it means. God tells us that if we love Him, we will love people. That is where it gets hard! It is easy to wake up and say, “Oh Father, I love you so much! My life is yours, and I will do anything that you ask.” But when we hear His still small voice saying, “Ok, go and love so-and-so,” that is when the challenge really begins!
Even though people are made in the image of God, we are all in the fallen state right now. But as much as God's command is to love Him, it is just as much His command to love one another. Today, make a decision to love those who are unlovely, and to fulfill His commandment on both ends. Love God, and love people.
Confession: Today, I choose to love God and to love others. Today, I choose to get out of my comfort zone and to be a blessing to others. When I love others, I am truly expressing that I love God.
