Ponderings from our very own Dr. Diana Brevan for today

Dear Partners World Wide, I bring to you my (Dr. Diana Brevan) ponderings this today. May the Lord richly bless you and yours as we go right into to today’s ponderings prayer and the Word.

TRANSFORMED INTO HIS IMAGE August 16 2014

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Day in and day out we are being changed into the image of the Lord. We are growing to be more like Him. What does that mean to be more like God, to be more like Jesus, to be more like the Holy Spirit? It means to act like they would act. We can always see how God would act by looking at the life of Jesus. Jesus is God manifested in the flesh. He said, he who has seen Me has seen the Father.
So how did Jesus act? Well, He went around doing good and healing those oppressed of the devil. He loved people. John could lay His head on the Creator’s chest. He saw people hungry and He went and fed them. When a person had a problem with a demon, He cast that thing out of them.

What was Jesus like? When a woman was caught in adultery, He said, I don’t condemn you. So we see, He was a restorer. When the woman at the well talked to Him and He revealed her past, He never condemned her but she left sharing the good news about Him. Jesus never condemned Mary. In fact, the only people that He had a problem with were the arrogant religious leaders.
God wants us to look at the face of our Jesus and be transformed into His image, to change from glory to glory. The way you do this is look to Jesus. Look to His large heart, look at how He loves people, and let that love flow form you to others. Be His hands to a hurting world. Instead of words that would cause strife, let your words be words of His grace.
You see, people are so hungry for love. People are looking for true Christians. They are looking for ones that don’t make them feel condemned, but when they are around these Jesus people they feel lifted up. It makes them want to know this Jesus too. So today, let’s look clearly into His loving eyes and share that with those around us.
CONFESSION: I choose to be a person that lets Jesus shine through me. I choose this day to be a lover of people, because Jesus is. I choose to look into His loving eyes and let others see Jesus in me.

TRUST HIM -August 17 2014

1 Corinthians 13:12 (NLT) Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

While we live on this earth we’re not going to know all the answers to every question. When we think we do, it’s kind of arrogant on our part. God is the only One who knows it all. In this life we walk by faith and not by sight. We put our trust in Him, that He will show us things we need to know because He knows what is best for us.
Faith is a big word and a big step for so many of us that like to know everything in advance. It’s saying, Father, I know that you have my best interest in mind and that everything is going to work out for the good because You love me.
In this verse it shows us that things can be cloudy at times and we might not get the full understanding of all that’s going on, but one day we will see all that happened in this life and have perfect clarity of why certain things went the way they did.
So you might ask, what do I do now? I have found that the best thing to do is pray and trust God for the rest. That doesn’t mean I don’t keep moving forward. In fact, I keep doing things that I believe are His will for me. I take steps of faith and if I miss it, which we all will at times, I dust myself off and continue on. It’s like a car, it’s so much easier to steer it when we start it and put it in drive. We can sit around and say, well, I hope I get somewhere someday, and yet go nowhere, but when we put our lives in His hands, then I believe that our steps will be ordered by the Lord.
So don’t get discouraged when things don’t go your way or end up the way you thought they should. Put your trust in Him and when we stand before Him on that day, He will reveal many things to us and we will say, oh, I am so glad you did it that way Lord.
