Ponderings from our very own Dr. Diana Brevan for today

Dear Partners World Wide, I bring to you my (Dr. Diana Brevan) ponderings this today. May the Lord richly bless you and yours as we go right into to today’s ponderings prayer and the Word.

IT HURTS (9-25-14)

Psalms 55:12-14 (NKJV) For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; then I could hide from him. 13 But it was you, a man my equal, my companion and my acquaintance. 14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in the throng.

There are times in life when we are hurt by others. We know that things like this happen. Then there are times when we are hurt by a fellow brother or sister and that's when it really hurts.

In this portion of Scripture we see that the Psalmist is hurt by someone who was close to him and he felt the pain of it. This someone even worshiped with him, wow! That hurts.

So what are we to do? As always, we must forgive because forgiveness frees us and frees them. When we live a life of forgiveness it gives us the power to grow in God’s grace.

Even on the cross of Calvary, Jesus our Lord and our example, showed us that He was willing to forgive each and every person of the human race. What love, that no matter how much He was abused, He released and He forgave.

Today, who is it that has hurt you? Even if they were a very close friend, forgive and release them from your heart.

Confession: Today, I make a decision to forgive those who have done me wrong. I make a decision to release them, and as I do I release myself from the pain of living in torment in my soul. Today, I say I am free because I'm living like my Heavenly Father.

Today's Bible Reading: Ezra 3 – 4:23,1 Corinthians 2:6 – 3:4,Psalms 28,Proverbs 20:24-25

TRUE REST (9-26-14)

Psalms 55:6-7 (NLTSE) Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest! 7 I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness.

There are times in life that we want to do what this Psalm says, and that is to fly away from all our problems and be at rest. But one thing that we find in life is that when we run from our problems they seem to never go away. We might get away from them for a few days and sometimes even longer but they always seem to come right back and at times worse than they were.

So what are we to do if flying away is not the answer? We need to face our fears and problems, not in our own strength or our own ability, but by Gods Spirit. Zechariah 4:6, says

“’Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts.” We need to face our problems in the strength of our God.

He knows the answer and He wants to deliver us from all our fears. Jesus told us that in this world we would have tribulations but to be of good cheer, He has overcome the world.

So today, don't run, but turn around and look those fears right in the eye and say to them, “I'm not going to defeat you today in my own strength but in the strength of the Holy Spirit.” And as you do this, watch as one by one, these fears run away.

Confession: Fear, problems, you’re a name and in the Name of Jesus I command you to cease and desist from your operations against me. I don't come in my own strength, but in the power of the living God. Today, I claim my victory in Jesus’ Name.
