“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” – Romans 1:16-17

Our FATHER in Heaven,

We learn much from Paul’s letters. He was not ashamed of the gospel. He was not ashamed because of the power- which its a divine energy. In itself, the gospel has an innate power. The gospel has power and now it has power for a special purpose, the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. The end effect of the gospel is salvation for in that is the all-inclusive term of the gospel. Yes, we see deliverance in the gospel – it has everything in it from justification to glorification. It is both an act and a process. It is all equally true. I have been saved, I am being saved, I shall be saved. The gospel is for everyone. It embraces the entire human race, regardless of racial or religious barriers. The gospel is personal as directed to every individual, for whosoever shall will may come. Though it is for everyone, it is limited to those who believe – universal in scope but limited. Yes, we see the expressed thoughts of election and free-will wrapped up in this. FATHER, we have been taught that the only way to procure salvation is by faith. This passage says for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” We know this is only speaking in chronological terms. The gospel was offered first to the Jew, for the birth of the church took place in a Jewish city, Jerusalem. We see three pertinent truths – the effect of the gospel is salvation, the extent of the gospel is the world and the condition of the gospel is faith. You cannot accept our righteousness, for as Isaiah said, we are as filthy rags, but we have an imputed righteousness of CHRIST placed on us and this allows us to be in Him. And because YOU see us in CHRIST, we can be accepted by YOU. WE secure this righteousness by faith. We know we cannot work for it, or pay for it, we cannot do anything but accept it by faith. FATHER, we are so grateful for the gospel, we are so grateful for what the gospel does and what the end result of it will be. We are grateful that the gospel has been offered to us and we are grateful that we accepted it and we believe it’s power. We are grateful to have the righteousness of CHRIST over us and in us so that we can stand before YOU and we pray that we may never lose it. But, we do ask, that our faith may be strengthened. If our faith ever should waver, awaken us and help us to never lose it. We love YOU and thank YOU for allowing us to understand these connections.
