Good Morning Scripture Devotional

Fellowship is to enter into God’s favor
1 John 1:5-10
5 This is the message he has given us to announce to you: God is light and there is no darkness in him at all. 6 So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness. We are not living in the truth. 7 But if we are living in the light of God’s presence, just as Christ is, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

Relationship is the legal binding connection you have when you are justified by faith in Christ Jesus. Intimate fellowship is the close association you have with Christ because have gotten to know Him so well. Salvation is to enter into God’s family. Fellowship is to enter into God’s favor. John is teaching us what it means to fellowship with God. Everyone is part of a family here on earth, but not all have intimate fellowship with their siblings or parents. Christians are a part of the family of God and are on their way to heaven but not all have intimate fellowship with Christ. Because God is light and in Him there is no darkness, we must join Him in the Light to be in fellowship. We do this by confessing our sins before Him and then we follow His leading. When we chose to believe His Word by faith, we enter into fellowship and joy. When we enter into sin, we step out of fellowship with God. Get to know the God of your salvation and understand the joy and peace that comes from walking every step in the Light.
