Good Morning!

1 Peter 1:17-21
17 And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites when he judges. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time as foreigners here on earth. 18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. 19 He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 20 God chose him for this purpose long before the world began, but now in these final days, he was sent to the earth for all to see. And he did this for you. 21 Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And because God raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory, your faith and hope can be placed confidently in God.

Because God is judge of all the earth, we dare not ignore Him or treat Him casually. We should not assume our privileged status as children of God gives us freedom to do whatever we want. Our fear is a healthy respect for the all-powerful God who could have just as well destroyed us all. But because of His love for us, He ransomed us with His Blood, and we are to be ever grateful to Him. Christ's sacrifice for our sins was not an after thought. The plan was set in motion by the all-knowing God long before the world began. What a comfort for those who love Him to know that He has always had and will always have everything under control. We can confidently place our trust in Him, as we respect Him for who He is.

17 Y recuerda que el Padre celestial al que oras no tiene favoritos cuando juzga. Él te juzgará o recompensará según lo que hagas. Entonces debes vivir con reverente temor hacia él durante tu tiempo como extranjeros aquí en la tierra. 18 Porque sabes que Dios pagó un rescate para salvarte de la vida vacía que heredaste de tus antepasados. Y el rescate que pagó no era solo oro o plata. 19 Él pagó por ti con la preciosa sangre de Cristo, el Cordero de Dios sin mancha e inmaculado. 20 Dios lo eligió para este propósito mucho antes de que el mundo comenzara, pero ahora en estos últimos días, fue enviado a la tierra para que todos lo vieran. Y él hizo esto por ti. 21 Por medio de Cristo has venido a confiar en Dios. Y debido a que Dios resucitó a Cristo de la muerte y le dio gran gloria, su fe y esperanza pueden depositarse con confianza en Dios.

Debido a que Dios es el juez de toda la tierra, no nos atrevemos a ignorarlo ni a tratarlo despreocupadamente. No debemos asumir nuestro estatus privilegiado ya que los hijos de Dios nos dan libertad para hacer lo que queramos. Nuestro temor es un respeto saludable por el Dios todopoderoso que podría habernos destruido a todos. Pero debido a Su amor por nosotros, Él nos rescató con Su Sangre, y debemos estar siempre agradecidos con Él. El sacrificio de Cristo por nuestros pecados no fue un pensamiento posterior. El plan fue puesto en movimiento por el Dios omnisciente mucho antes de que el mundo comenzara. Qué consuelo para aquellos que lo aman saber que Él siempre ha tenido y siempre tendrá todo bajo control. Podemos confiar confiadamente en Él, mientras lo respetamos por lo que Él es.
