What is our responsibility then to be the righteousness of Christ to the world around us?
Philippians 2: 12-18

12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. 14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. 17 Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.

Today many believers find themselves in the same trap. They trust Christ to redeem them, but they think it is under their own power that godliness happens. They begin in the Spirit, but are hoping to be perfected by the flesh. But according to Paul in his letter to the Philippians, we are to work out our own salvation as God works in us to both want to and live for Him. What is our responsibility then to be the righteousness of Christ to the world around us? How can we show them Christ while we are in the flesh? We train ourselves to be godly the same way an athlete trains for an event. We show up for practice, go through the workouts, and apply ourselves to godliness. We know His Word, we spend time with Him, and we do what He did. If we do that, God by His grace, will transform us into the righteousness of Christ and we will be Christ like. So strengthen your spiritual muscles, pick up a Bible and talk to God. Test Him and see if His Word is true.
