Good Morning!

Colossians 4:2
2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

Have you ever grown tired of praying for something or someone? Paul says we should "devote" ourselves to prayer and be "alert in prayer. Our persistence is an expression of our faith that God answers our prayers. But what about Matthew 6:7 that states, "When you pray, don't babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered only by repeating their words again and again." If we don't hear from God when we pray for something once, should we keep praying until we get an answer? Christ stated not to keep repeating the same words, not the same request for your need. Sometimes we wonder how to keep praying for the same thing over and over again. The Word of God is very clear. This verse in Matthew states not to just repeat words that have no meaning and that you are repeating over and over but have no meaning in your heart. Matthew 18:6-7 instructs us to keep bringing our requests before the Lord. (Then the Lord said, "Learn a lesson from this evil judge. 7 Even he rendered a just decision in the end, so don't you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who plead with him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?") God wants to know what is in our heart and we are to keep asking until we get an answer from Him. Faith shouldn't die if the answers come slowly, for God may be working His will in our life. When you feel tired of praying, know that God is present, always listening and will always answer your prayer. Maybe not in the ways you had hoped, but in ways that He knows are best for you. He is more interested in our relationship with Him than He is in our comfort.
