Opening Prayer
Lord as we gather this day we ask that you bless those that are delivering your word especially our Senior Pastor Dr Diana Brevan. We also ask that all those receiving your word will do so with a open heart and that your message will be written in their spirit,

We also hold up the Leadership of Jesus is Lord Fellowship and pray that you will build a hedge of protection around their lives.

O Little Town of Bethlehem

O little town of Bethlehem,

In Matthew 10:42, Jesus promised:

This Sermon today is spoken by your very Own Dr.Diana Brevan

As Dr Diana comes to the podium let us take a moment to bow our heads in prayer.
Today let us remember to prayer today for ourselves. For our own needs in health, wealth and happiness and for our spiritual wellbeing and growth
As we pray also let us hold up all the prayer requests that we have received this past week. Let us also be in agreement with the unspoken prayers that lay in each of our hearts.
Let us lift up all those that have been called as Prayer Warriors, that they may have the Lords strength as they pray and that a hedge of protection may surround them and their families
Let us also prayer for the needs of our local Church including the needs of Jesus is Lord Fellowship WWI. Let us as God for provisions so that His church may be able to continue the work that He has set aside for it. Let us pray for those that have been called to leadership in His church that they may have strength and a Godly vision at all times. Let us place a hedge of protection around Leaders and their families so that they may be healed from all health problems.

Let us pray that as we listen today our heart and our inner soul will be open to the words so that we may feed freely on the message and drink from the Holy Spirit.

We welcome all National and International Fellowship members and visitors around the globe as you receive the spiritual nutrition of the Lords Word.

ANGELIC INVITATION-CHRISTMAS

Luke 2:7-18And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

I. The Customs of Christmas
A. We lose sight of what Christmas is really all about
B. Charlie Brown Christmas Carol
1. Involved in the decorations
2. Involved in the gifts
3. Involved in the parties
4. Involved in the play
5. Involved in all of the things that go along with Christmas
a) But in the middle of his frustration he yells out “Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is really all about?”
b) Linus says to Charlie Brown, Sure Charlie Brown I can tell you what Christmas is all about
c) Linus proceeds to answer Charlie Brown in probably one of the most Christian religious scenes to ever appear on primetime TV.
(1) Linus steps to the forefront of the stage that they are standing on, he says LIGHTS Please, the lights dim and a spotlight appears on him as Linus begins to speak
(2) Linus begins to quote from the Bible, the book of Luke chapter 2
(3) The same passage that we read here this morning.
(4) Linus quotes from verse 8 to verse 14, then comes back to Charlie Brown.
(5) That’s what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown, he concludes
(a) Linus is exactly right, the message of the angels was not about lights, trees, parties, plays, or presents.
(b) The message of the angels was about Jesus Christ
II. The Angel speaks
A. Listen to what the angels told the shepherds on that hillside




9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10And the angel said unto them, Fear not:

B. The Glory of the Lord
1. Glory = doxa – Brightness, splendor, majesty
a) What can we learn?
b) The Glory of God can come to anyone at any time
2. These shepherds were just doing their jobs, an ordinary evening with ordinary people
a) But suddenly out of nowhere the glory of God comes into their lives
b) They weren’t expecting it – we know that because it frightened them
(1) Examples of the Glory at ordinary moments
(2) But that same glory can come to you this morning
(3) Maybe you came for an ordinary Christmas service
(4) Sing some songs, say a prayer, eat some food, go home
(a) But the glory of the Lord can come and shine on you today. Illuminating God’s presence in this place and allowing Him to speak to your heart
C. Because after the glory shines, the angel speaks
1. The first thing he says is to “fear not”
2. You don’t have to be afraid of God
a) I know that these shepherds were not perfect people
(1) They had their flaws and their mistakes
b) But despite their flaws, God chose to reach out to them
(1) His message unto them was one of faith not fear
3. No matter what you’ve done in your life, you don’t have to be afraid of God.
a) You say, I don’t feel worthy
b) Shepherd were the outcasts of their society
c) Disregarded by everyone else – yet at the birth of Jesus Christ, they were the ones that God sent this Angel to.
(1) You don’t have to be afraid or feel unworthy today
…for, behold, I bring you good tidings

D. I bring you good tidings
1. The angel speaks with a specific message for these shepherds
a) He knows right where they are, and he knows right where they need to go
b) God knows where you are this morning – His voice can direct your life, if you will let it
c) A voice that cries out like the Angel so many years ago on that first Christmas night– come to Jesus
E. Of great joy
1. This message that angel brings is one of hope and of great joy.
a) Hope because the angel says there “SHALL BE” great joy
b) When Jesus speaks to your life you can know that there SHALL BE a change, a transformation, a revolution
(1) Not for the bad
c) But for GREAT JOY
(1) Not just joy – but GREAT JOY
(2) Joy unspeakable and full of glory
(3) Indescribable joy
F. Which shall be to all people
1. The voice of God was not just directed at those shepherds on that hillside 2000 years ago –
2. but the echoes reverberate throughout the rest of the land and even through time itself
a) To ALL people
(1) The Birth of Jesus is not just something for these Shepherds to celebrate, but it is cause for celebration around the world
(2) Down through the ages – let that same voice ring out from the church today – the birth of Jesus is for ALL PEOPLE
III. The reason
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

A. This Day in the city of David
1. Right now at this moment
2. You don’t have to wait any longer for your messiah Shepherds
a) You can go to Him right now
3. Friends we don’t have to wait for Jesus any longer
a) We can go to Him right now
B. Where is Jesus?
1. In the city of David – in the city of Bethlehem
a) The angel told the shepherds exactly where Jesus was and how to find him
C. Why should we go?
1. Because He is our Savior
a) The birth of Jesus signified the beginning of His earthly ministry
b) But He was not born just to heal the sick
c) And He was not born just to cleanse the lepers
d) He was not born to cause the lame to walk, the dumb to talk, open the blind eyes, to cast out devils and demons or even to even raise the dead
(1) He was born to be OUR SAVIOUR
(2) Because we needed saving
D. Who is Jesus?
1. Christ – the Lord
a) Christ = anointed one
b) Lord = God- it is a title and term reserved for God Himself
(1) God became flesh and was born into this world on that first Christmas night
E. What Will He look like?
1. How will this great and mighty messiah come into the world?
2. In a palace like a king?
3. In the temple like a priest?




12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

a) Swaddling clothes – not a fine blanket
b) Lying in a manger – not in the palace or in the temple
c) Jesus came to be one of us – so even from the first – he did not come in as the king or the priest – but as the poor baby
(1) Jesus understands you today.
IV. Join the Voice
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

A. Suddenly the long angel was joined by a multitude
1. A large number of angels
a) Saying – GLORY TO GOD
b) God’s Glory has come to the Earth
2. Because God has come to Humanity
3. Let there be peace
a) No longer must we worry about the curse of Sin
b) No longer must we live in anxiety about being separated from God
c) But now that Jesus has been born – peace can reign over all mankind
4. Good will toward men
a) The word Will – is better translated ”desire”
b) Jesus was born because he desired to bring GOOD into the world – who is Good but God?
c) His desire was to bring about the Salvation of humanity
(1) It was because of His great Love
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

B. What was their response?
15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

1. Once they heard about the message of Jesus – they went with haste to find him
2. And they did find him exactly as the angel told them that they would
V. Closing
A. The glory of God can shine into your heart today
1. You may have thought today was just another Christmas service.
a) But it can be so much more than that for you
2. Can you hear that same voice saying unto us this morning?
a) Fear Not – you don’t have to feel afraid or ashamed
b) For Behold I bring you good tidings – God’s message is directed today –at you – he knows right where you are this morning. You are not here by accident
c) Of Great Joy – come and experience the joy for yourself
d) Which shall be to all people – it’s for you today
e) For unto you is born this day – right now, don’t wait till tomorrow, or the next service come this morning
f) In the city of David – a Savior – I need a savior today
g) Which is Christ the Lord – not just any savior – I need Christ, my Lord and My God
3. So can you hear that voice today – will you listen to that Angelic message as it echoes down through time to us right here and right now today.
4. Then like those shepherds, come to the altars this morning and find Jesus for yourself.


Salvation Prayer
Have you ever made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life?

Dear God,
I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me!
