Isaiah 11-12

The Reign of Jesse’s Offspring

11 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
3 His delight is in the fear of the Lord,
And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes,
Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;
4 But with righteousness He shall judge the poor,
And decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth,
And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
5 Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins,
And faithfulness the belt of His waist.
6 “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.
7 The cow and the bear shall graze;
Their young ones shall lie down together;
And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole,
And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,
For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord
As the waters cover the sea.
10 “And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse,
Who shall stand as a banner to the people;
For the Gentiles shall seek Him,
And His resting place shall be glorious.”
11 It shall come to pass in that day
That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time
To recover the remnant of His people who are left,
From Assyria and Egypt,
From Pathros and Cush,
From Elam and Shinar,
From Hamath and the islands of the sea.
12 He will set up a banner for the nations,
And will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
And gather together the dispersed of Judah
From the four corners of the earth.
13 Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart,
And the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off;
Ephraim shall not envy Judah,
And Judah shall not harass Ephraim.
14 But they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines toward the west;
Together they shall plunder the people of the East;
They shall lay their hand on Edom and Moab;
And the people of Ammon shall obey them.
15 The Lord will utterly destroy the tongue of the Sea of Egypt;
With His mighty wind He will shake His fist over the River,
And strike it in the seven streams,
And make men cross over dry-shod.
16 There will be a highway for the remnant of His people
Who will be left from Assyria,
As it was for Israel
In the day that he came up from the land of Egypt.
A Hymn of Praise

12 And in that day you will say:

“O Lord, I will praise You;
Though You were angry with me,
Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation.’ ”
3 Therefore with joy you will draw water
From the wells of salvation.
4 And in that day you will say:

“Praise the Lord, call upon His name;
Declare His deeds among the peoples,
Make mention that His name is exalted.
5 Sing to the Lord,
For He has done excellent things;
This is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion,
For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!”

El retoño de Isaí y la era mesiánica

11 Un retoño brotará del tronco de Isaí, y un vástago de sus raíces dará fruto. 2 Sobre él reposará el Espíritu del SEÑOR: espíritu de sabiduría y de inteligencia, espíritu de consejo y de fortaleza, espíritu de conocimiento y de temor del SEÑOR. 3 Él se deleitará en el temor del SEÑOR. No juzgará por lo que vean sus ojos ni arbitrará por lo que oigan sus oídos; 4 sino que juzgará con justicia a los pobres, y con equidad arbitrará a favor de los afligidos de la tierra. Golpeará la tierra con la vara de su boca, y con el aliento de sus labios dará muerte al impío. 5 La justicia será el cinturón de sus lomos, y la fidelidad lo será de su cintura.

6 Entonces el lobo habitará con el cordero, y el leopardo se recostará con el cabrito. El ternero y el cachorro del león crecerán juntos, y un niño pequeño los conducirá. 7 La vaca y la osa pacerán, y sus crías se recostarán juntas. El león comerá paja como el buey. 8 Un niño de pecho jugará sobre el agujero de la cobra, y el recién destetado extenderá su mano sobre el escondrijo de la víbora. 9 No harán daño ni destruirán en todo mi santo monte, porque la tierra estará llena del conocimiento del SEÑOR, como las aguas cubren el mar.

10 Acontecerá en aquel día que las naciones buscarán a aquel que es la raíz de Isaí y que estará en pie como una bandera para los pueblos, y su morada será gloriosa. 11 Asimismo, acontecerá en aquel día que el SEÑOR volverá a poner su mano para recobrar el remanente que habrá quedado de su pueblo, desde Asiria, Egipto, Patros, Etiopía, Elam, Sinar, Hamat y las costas del mar. 12 Él levantará bandera para las naciones, y juntará a los desterrados de Israel. Reunirá a los dispersos de Judá desde los cuatro extremos de la tierra.

13 Entonces se disiparán los celos de Efraín, y los que hostilizan a Judá serán exterminados. Efraín no tendrá más celos de Judá ni Judá hostilizará a Efraín. 14 Volarán sobre los hombros de los filisteos al occidente, y juntos saquearán a los hijos del oriente. Edom y Moab estarán bajo su sujeción, y los hijos de Amón les obedecerán.

15 El SEÑOR secará la lengua del mar de Egipto. Con el poder de su Espíritu agitará su mano contra el Río; lo partirá en siete brazos y hará que pasen por él con sandalias. 16 Entonces habrá un camino para el remanente de su pueblo que quedó en Asiria, como lo hubo para Israel en el día que subió de la tierra de Egipto .

Agradecimiento por la liberación divina

12 En aquel día dirás:

“¡Te doy gracias, oh SEÑOR!

Aunque te enojaste contra mí,

tu ira se apartó, y me has consolado.

2 ¡He aquí, Dios es mi salvación! Confiaré y no temeré,

porque el SEÑOR es mi fortaleza

y mi canción;

él es mi salvación”.

3 Con regocijo sacarán agua

de los manantiales de la salvación.

4 En aquel día dirán:

“¡Den gracias al SEÑOR!

¡Invoquen su nombre!

Den a conocer entre los pueblos sus hazañas;

recuerden que grande es su nombre.

5 ¡Canten salmos al SEÑOR, porque ha hecho cosas magníficas! . Sea esto conocido en toda la tierra.

6 Grita y canta, oh habitante de Sion, pues el Santo de Israel es grande en medio de ti”.
