21 The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.

2 A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.

4 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.

5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.

6 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.

7 And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:

8 And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:

9 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

10 O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.

11 The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?

12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.

13 The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.

14 The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.

15 For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

16 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:

17 And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the Lord God of Israel hath spoken it.

22 The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?

2 Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.

3 All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which have fled from far.

4 Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people.

5 For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord God of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.

6 And Elam bare the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.

7 And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

8 And he discovered the covering of Judah, and thou didst look in that day to the armour of the house of the forest.

9 Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool.

10 And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.

11 Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.

12 And in that day did the Lord God of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:

13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.

14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the Lord of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord God of hosts.

15 Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,

16 What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?

17 Behold, the Lord will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.

18 He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.

19 And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.

20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:

21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.

24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.

25 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the Lord hath spoken it.

21 Profecía acerca del Desierto del Mar: Como los torbellinos que pasan por el Néguev, así viene del desierto, de la tierra horrenda. 2 Dura visión me ha sido revelada. El traidor traiciona, y el destructor destruye. ¡Sube, oh Elam! ¡Asedia, oh Media! Hice cesar todo su gemido. 3 Por tanto, mis lomos se han estremecido de dolor; convulsiones se han apoderado de mí, como las convulsiones de una mujer que da a luz. Estoy tan entristecido que no lo puedo oír, y tan espantado que no lo puedo ver. 4 Mi mente divaga; el terror se ha apoderado de mí. El anochecer que yo anhelaba se me ha convertido en temblor.

5 Preparan la mesa, arreglan los asientos, comen y beben. ¡Levántense, oh jefes; saquen brillo a los escudos! 6 Porque así me dice el Señor:

—Anda, pon un centinela que anuncie lo que vea. 7 Cuando vea carros, parejas de jinetes, gente montada en asnos y gente montada en camellos, escuche él con atención, con mucha atención.

8 Y el centinela gritó:

—Oh Señor, sobre la torre del centinela estoy de pie continuamente de día, y todas las noches estoy apostado en mi guardia. 9 Y he aquí que esto es lo que viene: ¡Hombres en carros y parejas de jinetes!

Después habló y dijo:

—¡Ha caído; ha caído Babilonia! Todos los ídolos de sus dioses fueron rotos contra el suelo.

10 Oh trillado pueblo mío, hijo de mi era: Yo les he anunciado lo que he escuchado de parte del SEÑOR de los Ejércitos, Dios de Israel.

11 Profecía acerca de Edom : Me dan voces desde Seír, diciendo:

—Guardia, ¿qué hay de la noche? Guardia, ¿qué hay de la noche?

12 El guardia responde:

—La mañana viene y también la noche. Si quieren preguntar, pregunten. Vuelvan a venir.

Profecía acerca de Arabia

13 Profecía acerca de Arabia: En el bosque de Arabia pasarán la noche, oh caravanas de Dedán . 14 Lleven agua al encuentro del sediento, oh habitantes de la tierra de Tema; salgan con pan al encuentro del que huye. 15 Porque huyen ante la espada, ante la espada desenvainada, ante el arco entesado y ante la violencia de la batalla. 16 Porque así me ha dicho el SEÑOR: “Dentro de un año, como el año de un jornalero, se acabará toda la gloria de Quedar. 17 Aun los sobrevivientes del número de los arqueros, los guerreros de los hijos de Quedar, serán mermados; porque el SEÑOR Dios de Israel ha hablado”.

22 Profecía acerca del Valle de la Visión: ¿Qué, pues, te sucede para que con todo lo tuyo hayas subido a las azoteas? 2 ¡Oh tú, llena de bullicio, ciudad turbulenta, urbe desenfrenada! Tus muertos no fueron muertos a espada ni muertos en guerra. 3 Todos tus oficiales huyeron juntos; sin arcos fueron apresados. Todos los que se encontraron en ti fueron prendidos juntos, a pesar de que habían huido lejos. 4 Por esto he dicho: “Dejen de mirarme; lloraré amargamente. No insistan en consolarme por la destrucción de la hija de mi pueblo”. 5 Porque este es día de alboroto, de atropello y de confusión, de parte del SEÑOR Dios de los Ejércitos en el Valle de la Visión, para derribar las murallas y gritar a las montañas.

6 Elam ha tomado la aljaba; Siria ha irrumpido con carros; Quir ha desnudado el escudo. 7 Y ha sucedido que tus más hermosos valles han quedado llenos de carros, y los jinetes se han ubicado junto a las puertas. 8 Ha sido quitada la defensa de Judá.

En aquel día pusieron la mirada en las armas de la Casa del Bosque . 9 Vieron que eran muchas las brechas de la ciudad de David, y recogieron las aguas del estanque de abajo. 10 Contaron las casas de Jerusalén y demolieron casas para fortificar la muralla. 11 E hicieron una represa entre los dos muros para las aguas del estanque antiguo. Pero no has puesto la mirada en el que ha hecho esto; no han visto a aquel que hace mucho tiempo lo produjo. 12 Por tanto, en ese día el SEÑOR Dios de los Ejércitos convocará al llanto, al duelo, a raparse la cabeza y a ceñirse de cilicio.

13 No obstante, he aquí que hay regocijo y alegría. Se matan vacas y se degüellan ovejas; se come carne y se bebe vino: “¡Comamos y bebamos, que mañana moriremos!”.

14 Esto ha sido revelado a mis oídos de parte del SEÑOR de los Ejércitos: “Ciertamente este pecado no les será perdonado hasta que mueran”, ha dicho el SEÑOR Dios de los Ejércitos.

Profecía acerca de Sebna y Eliaquim

15 Así ha dicho el SEÑOR Dios de los Ejércitos: “Anda, ve a ese mayordomo, a Sebna, administrador del palacio, y dile: 16 ‘¿Qué tienes tú aquí, o a quién tienes tú aquí, para que hayas labrado aquí un sepulcro para ti, como los que labran sus sepulcros en los lugares elevados, o los que esculpen su morada en la peña? 17 He aquí que el SEÑOR te arrojará con violencia, oh hombre poderoso. Él te asirá firmemente 18 y te enrollará bien como a un ovillo, para lanzarte a una tierra espaciosa. Allá morirás, y allá quedarán tus carros espléndidos, vergüenza de la casa de tu señor. 19 Yo te depondré de tu puesto y te eliminaré de tu posición.

20 “‘Sucederá en aquel día que yo llamaré a mi siervo Eliaquim hijo de Hilquías. 21 Lo vestiré con tu túnica y lo ceñiré con tu cinturón. En sus manos entregaré tu autoridad, y él será el padre de los habitantes de Jerusalén y de la casa de Judá. 22 Pondré sobre su hombro la llave de la casa de David. Él abrirá y nadie cerrará; él cerrará y nadie abrirá.

23 “‘Yo lo clavaré como estaca en lugar firme, y será un trono de honra para la casa de su padre. 24 De él dependerá toda la gloria de la casa de su padre, la prole y la posteridad; y todos los utensilios hasta los más pequeños, desde las fuentes ceremoniales hasta todas las tinajas’.

25 “En aquel día, dice el SEÑOR de los Ejércitos, cederá la estaca que estaba clavada en lugar firme; se romperá y caerá. La carga que se colgó de ella será destruida, porque el SEÑOR ha hablado”.
