Death of the Firstborn Announced
11 And the Lord said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. Afterward he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out of here altogether. 2 Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbor and every woman from her neighbor, articles of silver and articles of gold.” 3 And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.
4 Then Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt; 5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. 6 Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again. 7 But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.’ 8 And all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will go out.” Then he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.
9 But the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not heed you, so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” 10 So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh; and the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go out of his land.
The Passover Instituted
12 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. 4 And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. 6 Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. 7 And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. 8 Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire—its head with its legs and its entrails. 10 You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. 11 And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.
12 ‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. 13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
14 ‘So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance. 15 Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel. 16 On the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat—that only may be prepared by you. 17 So you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this same day I will have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as an everlasting ordinance. 18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening. 19 For seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses, since whoever eats what is leavened, that same person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is a stranger or a native of the land. 20 You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.’ ”
21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families, and kill the Passover lamb. 22 And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning. 23 For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. 24 And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever. 25 It will come to pass when you come to the land which the Lord will give you, just as He promised, that you shall keep this service. 26 And it shall be, when your children say to you, ‘What do you mean by this service?’ 27 that you shall say, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice of the Lord, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our households.’ ” So the people bowed their heads and worshiped. 28 Then the children of Israel went away and did so; just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
The Tenth Plague: Death of the Firstborn
29 And it came to pass at midnight that the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of livestock. 30 So Pharaoh rose in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
The Exodus
31 Then he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, “Rise, go out from among my people, both you and the children of Israel. And go, serve the Lord as you have said. 32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also.”
33 And the Egyptians urged the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead.” 34 So the people took their dough before it was leavened, having their kneading bowls bound up in their clothes on their shoulders. 35 Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked from the Egyptians articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing. 36 And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.
37 Then the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children. 38 A mixed multitude went up with them also, and flocks and herds—a great deal of livestock. 39 And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they had brought out of Egypt; for it was not leavened, because they were driven out of Egypt and could not wait, nor had they prepared provisions for themselves.
40 Now the sojourn of the children of Israel who lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years. 41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years—on that very same day—it came to pass that all the armies of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt. 42 It is a night of solemn observance to the Lord for bringing them out of the land of Egypt. This is that night of the Lord, a solemn observance for all the children of Israel throughout their generations.
Passover Regulations
43 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “This is the ordinance of the Passover: No foreigner shall eat it. 44 But every man’s servant who is bought for money, when you have circumcised him, then he may eat it. 45 A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat it. 46 In one house it shall be eaten; you shall not carry any of the flesh outside the house, nor shall you break one of its bones. 47 All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. 48 And when a stranger dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it. 49 One law shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among you.”
50 Thus all the children of Israel did; as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did. 51 And it came to pass, on that very same day, that the Lord brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt according to their armies.

Anuncio de la décima plaga
11 El SEÑOR dijo a Moisés:
—Traeré una sola plaga más sobre el faraón y sobre Egipto. Después de esto, él los dejará ir de aquí. Cuando los deje ir, él los echará de aquí por completo. 2 Habla, pues, al pueblo para que cada hombre pida a su vecino, y cada mujer a su vecina, objetos de plata y de oro.
3 El SEÑOR dio gracia al pueblo ante los ojos de los egipcios. El mismo Moisés era considerado como un gran hombre en la tierra de Egipto, tanto a los ojos de los servidores del faraón, como a los ojos del pueblo.
4 Entonces dijo Moisés:
—Así ha dicho el SEÑOR: “Como a la medianoche yo pasaré por en medio de Egipto. 5 Y todo primogénito en la tierra de Egipto morirá, desde el primogénito del faraón que se sienta en su trono, hasta el primogénito de la sierva que está detrás del molino, y todo primogénito del ganado. 6 Habrá un gran clamor en toda la tierra de Egipto, como nunca lo hubo ni lo habrá. 7 Pero entre todos los hijos de Israel ni un perro les ladrará ni a los hombres ni a los animales, para que sepan que el SEÑOR hace distinción entre los egipcios y los israelitas”. 8 Entonces vendrán a mí todos estos tus servidores, y postrados delante de mí dirán: “Sal tú, y todo el pueblo que te sigue”. Y después de esto, yo saldré.
Salió muy enojado de la presencia del faraón. 9 Y el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés:
—Faraón no los escuchará, para que mis maravillas se multipliquen en la tierra de Egipto.
10 Moisés y Aarón hicieron todos estos prodigios delante del faraón. Pero el SEÑOR endureció el corazón del faraón, y este no dejó ir de su tierra a los hijos de Israel.
La Pascua de liberación
12 El SEÑOR habló a Moisés y a Aarón en la tierra de Egipto, diciendo:
2 —Este mes será para ustedes el principio de los meses; será para ustedes el primero de los meses del año. 3 Hablen a toda la congregación de Israel, diciendo que el diez de este mes cada uno tome para sí un cordero en cada casa paterna, un cordero por familia. 4 Si la familia es demasiado pequeña como para comer el cordero, entonces lo compartirán él y su vecino de la casa inmediata, de acuerdo con el número de las personas. Según la cantidad que ha de comer cada uno, repartirán el cordero. 5 El cordero será sin defecto, macho de un año; tomarán un cordero o un cabrito. 6 Lo habrán de guardar hasta el día catorce de este mes, cuando lo ****llará toda la congregación del pueblo de Israel al atardecer. 7 Tomarán parte de la sangre y la pondrán en los dos postes y en el dintel de las puertas de las casas en donde lo han de comer. 8 Aquella misma noche comerán la carne, asada al fuego. La comerán con panes sin levadura y con hierbas amargas. 9 No comerán del cordero nada crudo ni cocido en agua; sino asado al fuego, con su cabeza, sus piernas y sus entrañas. 10 Nada dejarán de él hasta la mañana. Lo que quede hasta la mañana habrán de quemarlo en el fuego. 11 Así lo habrán de comer: con sus cintos ceñidos, puestas las sandalias en sus pies y con su bastón en la mano. Lo comerán apresuradamente; es la Pascua del SEÑOR.
12 »La misma noche yo pasaré por la tierra de Egipto y heriré de muerte a todo primogénito en la tierra de Egipto, tanto de los hombres como del ganado. Así ejecutaré actos justicieros contra todos los dioses de Egipto. Yo, el SEÑOR.
13 »La sangre les servirá de señal en las casas donde estén. Yo veré la sangre y en cuanto a ustedes pasaré de largo y cuando castigue la tierra de Egipto, no habrá en ustedes ninguna plaga para destruirlos.
14 »Habrán de conmemorar este día. Lo habrán de celebrar como fiesta al SEÑOR a través de sus generaciones. Lo celebrarán como estatuto perpetuo. 15 Siete días comerán panes sin levadura. El primer día quitarán de sus casas la levadura, porque cualquiera que coma algo con levadura desde el primer día hasta el séptimo, esa persona será excluida de Israel.
16 »El primer día habrá asamblea sagrada. También en el séptimo día habrá asamblea sagrada. Ningún trabajo harán en ellos, excepto la preparación de lo que cada uno haya de comer. Solo eso podrán hacer. 17 Guardarán la fiesta de los Panes sin levadura, porque en este mismo día habré sacado sus ejércitos de la tierra de Egipto. Por tanto, guardarán este día como estatuto perpetuo a través de sus generaciones.
18 »Comerán los panes sin levadura en el mes primero, desde el día catorce del mes al atardecer, hasta el día veintiuno del mes al atardecer. 19 Durante siete días no se hallará en sus casas nada que tenga levadura. Cualquiera que coma algo con levadura, sea forastero o natural de la tierra, esa persona será excluida de la congregación de Israel. 20 No comerán ninguna cosa con levadura. En todo lugar donde habiten comerán panes sin levadura.
21 Moisés convocó a todos los ancianos de Israel y les dijo:
—Saquen y tomen del rebaño para sus familias, y sacrifiquen el cordero pascual. 22 Tomen luego un manojo de hisopo y empápenlo en la sangre que está en la vasija, y unten el dintel y los postes de la puerta con la parte de la sangre que está en la vasija. Ninguno de ustedes salga de la puerta de su casa hasta la mañana. 23 Porque el SEÑOR pasará matando a los egipcios, y cuando vea la sangre en el dintel y en los dos postes, pasará de largo aquella puerta y no dejará entrar en sus casas al destructor para matar. 24 Guardarán estas palabras como ley para ustedes y para sus hijos, para siempre. 25 Cuando hayan entrado en la tierra que el SEÑOR les dará, como lo prometió, guardarán este rito. 26 Y cuando les pregunten sus hijos: “¿Qué significa este rito para ustedes?”, 27 ustedes les responderán: “Este es el sacrificio de la Pascua del SEÑOR, quien pasó de largo las casas de los hijos de Israel cuando mató a los egipcios y libró nuestras casas”.
Entonces el pueblo se inclinó y adoró. 28 Los hijos de Israel fueron y lo hicieron; como el SEÑOR había mandado a Moisés y a Aarón, así lo hicieron.
Décima plaga: mueren los primogénitos
29 Aconteció que a la medianoche el SEÑOR mató a todo primogénito en la tierra de Egipto, desde el primogénito del faraón que se sentaba en el trono, hasta el primogénito del preso que estaba en la mazmorra, y todo primogénito del ganado. 30 Aquella noche se levantaron el faraón, todos sus servidores y todos los egipcios, pues había un gran clamor en Egipto, porque no había casa donde no hubiera un muerto. 31 Entonces hizo llamar a Moisés y a Aarón de noche, y les dijo:
—¡Levántense y salgan de en medio de mi pueblo, ustedes y los hijos de Israel! Vayan y sirvan al SEÑOR, como han dicho. 32 Tomen también sus ovejas y sus vacas, como han dicho, y váyanse. Y bendíganme a mí también.
Los israelitas salen de Egipto
33 Los egipcios apremiaban al pueblo, apresurándose a echarlos del país, porque decían:
—¡Todos seremos muertos!
34 La gente llevaba sobre sus hombros la masa que aún no tenía levadura y sus artesas envueltas en sus mantos. 35 Los hijos de Israel hicieron también conforme al mandato de Moisés, y pidieron a los egipcios objetos de plata, objetos de oro y vestidos. 36 El SEÑOR dio gracia al pueblo ante los ojos de los egipcios, quienes les dieron lo que pidieron. Así despojaron a los egipcios.
37 Partieron, pues, los hijos de Israel de Ramesés a Sucot, unos seiscientos mil hombres de a pie, sin contar los niños. 38 También fue con ellos una gran multitud de toda clase de gente, y sus ovejas y ganado en gran número. 39 De la masa que habían sacado de Egipto, cocieron panes sin leudar, porque no le habían puesto levadura; ya que cuando fueron echados de Egipto, no pudieron detenerse ni para preparar comida.
40 El tiempo que los hijos de Israel habitaron en Egipto fue de cuatrocientos treinta años. 41 Pasados los cuatrocientos treinta años, en el mismo día salieron de la tierra de Egipto todos los escuadrones del SEÑOR. 42 Esta es noche de guardar en honor del SEÑOR, por haberlos sacado de la tierra de Egipto. Todos los hijos de Israel, a través de sus generaciones, deben guardar esta noche en honor del SEÑOR.
Los que han de participar en la Pascua
43 El SEÑOR dijo a Moisés y a Aarón:
—Este es el estatuto acerca de la Pascua: Ningún extranjero comerá de ella. 44 Pero todo esclavo que alguien haya comprado por dinero comerá de ella después que lo hayas circuncidado. 45 El que es extranjero y mercenario no la comerá. 46 Será comida en una casa; no llevarás de aquella carne fuera de la casa. Tampoco quebrarán ninguno de sus huesos. 47 Toda la congregación de Israel la celebrará. 48 Si algún extranjero que reside entre ustedes quisiera celebrar la Pascua del SEÑOR, que sea circuncidado todo varón de su familia. Entonces podrá celebrarla, y será como el natural de la tierra. Pero ningún incircunciso comerá de ella. 49 La misma ley será para el natural y para el extranjero que viva entre ustedes.
50 Así lo hicieron todos los hijos de Israel. Tal como lo mandó el SEÑOR a Moisés y a Aarón, así lo hicieron. 51 Y sucedió que aquel mismo día el SEÑOR sacó de la tierra de Egipto a los hijos de Israel, por sus ejércitos.
