Laws of Grain and Drink Offerings

15 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you have come into the land you are to inhabit, which I am giving to you, 3 and you make an offering by fire to the Lord, a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or in your appointed feasts, to make a sweet aroma to the Lord, from the herd or the flock, 4 then he who presents his offering to the Lord shall bring a grain offering of one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of oil; 5 and one-fourth of a hin of wine as a drink offering you shall prepare with the burnt offering or the sacrifice, for each lamb. 6 Or for a ram you shall prepare as a grain offering two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-third of a hin of oil; 7 and as a drink offering you shall offer one-third of a hin of wine as a sweet aroma to the Lord. 8 And when you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering, or as a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, or as a peace offering to the Lord, 9 then shall be offered with the young bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil; 10 and you shall bring as the drink offering half a hin of wine as an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord.

11 ‘Thus it shall be done for each young bull, for each ram, or for each lamb or young goat. 12 According to the number that you prepare, so you shall do with everyone according to their number. 13 All who are native-born shall do these things in this manner, in presenting an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord. 14 And if a stranger dwells with you, or whoever is among you throughout your generations, and would present an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord, just as you do, so shall he do. 15 One ordinance shall be for you of the assembly and for the stranger who dwells with you, an ordinance forever throughout your generations; as you are, so shall the stranger be before the Lord. 16 One law and one custom shall be for you and for the stranger who dwells with you.’ ”

17 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 18 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land to which I bring you, 19 then it will be, when you eat of the bread of the land, that you shall offer up a heave offering to the Lord. 20 You shall offer up a cake of the first of your ground meal as a heave offering; as a heave offering of the threshing floor, so shall you offer it up. 21 Of the first of your ground meal you shall give to the Lord a heave offering throughout your generations.

Laws Concerning Unintentional Sin

22 ‘If you sin unintentionally, and do not observe all these commandments which the Lord has spoken to Moses— 23 all that the Lord has commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day the Lord gave commandment and onward throughout your generations— 24 then it will be, if it is unintentionally committed, without the knowledge of the congregation, that the whole congregation shall offer one young bull as a burnt offering, as a sweet aroma to the Lord, with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one kid of the goats as a sin offering. 25 So the priest shall make atonement for the whole congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them, for it was unintentional; they shall bring their offering, an offering made by fire to the Lord, and their sin offering before the Lord, for their unintended sin. 26 It shall be forgiven the whole congregation of the children of Israel and the stranger who dwells among them, because all the people did it unintentionally.

27 ‘And if a person sins unintentionally, then he shall bring a female goat in its first year as a sin offering. 28 So the priest shall make atonement for the person who sins unintentionally, when he sins unintentionally before the Lord, to make atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him. 29 You shall have one law for him who sins unintentionally, for him who is native-born among the children of Israel and for the stranger who dwells among them.

Law Concerning Presumptuous Sin

30 ‘But the person who does anything presumptuously, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one brings reproach on the Lord, and he shall be cut off from among his people. 31 Because he has despised the word of the Lord, and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; his guilt shall be upon him.’ ”

Penalty for Violating the Sabbath

32 Now while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. 33 And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation. 34 They put him under guard, because it had not been explained what should be done to him.

35 Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” 36 So, as the Lord commanded Moses, all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him with stones, and he died.

Tassels on Garments

37 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 38 “Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. 39 And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, 40 and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God. 41 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.”

Rebellion Against Moses and Aaron

16 Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; 2 and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown. 3 They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”

4 So when Moses heard it, he fell on his face; 5 and he spoke to Korah and all his company, saying, “Tomorrow morning the Lord will show who is His and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to Him. That one whom He chooses He will cause to come near to Him. 6 Do this: Take censers, Korah and all your company; 7 put fire in them and put incense in them before the Lord tomorrow, and it shall be that the man whom the Lord chooses is the holy one. You take too much upon yourselves, you sons of Levi!”

8 Then Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi: 9 Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the work of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to serve them; 10 and that He has brought you near to Himself, you and all your brethren, the sons of Levi, with you? And are you seeking the priesthood also? 11 Therefore you and all your company are gathered together against the Lord. And what is Aaron that you complain against him?”

12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, but they said, “We will not come up! 13 Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you should keep acting like a prince over us? 14 Moreover you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up!”

15 Then Moses was very angry, and said to the Lord, “Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, nor have I hurt one of them.”

16 And Moses said to Korah, “Tomorrow, you and all your company be present before the Lord—you and they, as well as Aaron. 17 Let each take his censer and put incense in it, and each of you bring his censer before the Lord, two hundred and fifty censers; both you and Aaron, each with his censer.” 18 So every man took his censer, put fire in it, laid incense on it, and stood at the door of the tabernacle of meeting with Moses and Aaron. 19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. Then the glory of the Lord appeared to all the congregation.

20 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 21 “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”

22 Then they fell on their faces, and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and You be angry with all the congregation?”

23 So the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the congregation, saying, ‘Get away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.’ ”

25 Then Moses rose and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him. 26 And he spoke to the congregation, saying, “Depart now from the tents of these wicked men! Touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins.” 27 So they got away from around the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram; and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, with their wives, their sons, and their little children.

28 And Moses said: “By this you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I have not done them of my own will. 29 If these men die naturally like all men, or if they are visited by the common fate of all men, then the Lord has not sent me. 30 But if the Lord creates a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the Lord.”

31 Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. 33 So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly. 34 Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up also!”

35 And a fire came out from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense.

36 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 37 “Tell Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, to pick up the censers out of the blaze, for they are holy, and scatter the fire some distance away. 38 The censers of these men who sinned against their own souls, let them be made into hammered plates as a covering for the altar. Because they presented them before the Lord, therefore they are holy; and they shall be a sign to the children of Israel.” 39 So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers, which those who were burned up had presented, and they were hammered out as a covering on the altar, 40 to be a memorial to the children of Israel that no outsider, who is not a descendant of Aaron, should come near to offer incense before the Lord, that he might not become like Korah and his companions, just as the Lord had said to him through Moses.

Complaints of the People

41 On the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You have killed the people of the Lord.” 42 Now it happened, when the congregation had gathered against Moses and Aaron, that they turned toward the tabernacle of meeting; and suddenly the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared. 43 Then Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of meeting.

44 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 45 “Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”

And they fell on their faces.

46 So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a censer and put fire in it from the altar, put incense on it, and take it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from the Lord. The plague has begun.” 47 Then Aaron took it as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and already the plague had begun among the people. So he put in the incense and made atonement for the people. 48 And he stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped. 49 Now those who died in the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, besides those who died in the Korah incident. 50 So Aaron returned to Moses at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, for the plague had stopped.

Leyes sobre diferentes ofrendas

15 El SEÑOR habló a Moisés diciendo: 2 “Habla a los hijos de Israel y diles: ‘Cuando hayan entrado en la tierra que van a habitar y que yo les doy, 3 presentarán una ofrenda quemada del ganado vacuno o del ganado ovino, como grato olor al SEÑOR, en holocausto o sacrificio por un voto especial, o como ofrenda voluntaria, o por sus festividades. 4 Entonces el que presente su ofrenda al SEÑOR traerá como ofrenda vegetal dos kilos de harina fina amasada con un litro de aceite. 5 Y para la ofrenda líquida presentarás sobre el holocausto o el sacrificio un litro de vino por cada cordero.

6 “ ‘Por cada carnero presentarás una ofrenda vegetal de cuatro kilos de harina fina amasada con un litro y medio de aceite. 7 Y para la ofrenda líquida ofrecerás un litro y medio de vino, como grato olor al SEÑOR.

8 “ ‘Cuando ofrezcas un novillo en holocausto o sacrificio, tanto al cumplir un voto especial o como sacrificio de paz al SEÑOR, 9 ofrecerás con el novillo una ofrenda vegetal de seis kilos de harina fina amasada con dos litros de aceite. 10 Y para la ofrenda líquida ofrecerás dos litros de vino, como ofrenda quemada de grato olor al SEÑOR. 11 Así se presentará por cada toro, por cada carnero o por cada cordero y por los cabritos. 12 Conforme al número que presenten, así presentarán por cada uno de ellos, según su número.

13 “‘Todo natural hará estas cosas así, al presentar una ofrenda quemada como grato olor al SEÑOR. 14 Y si con ustedes reside algún extranjero o alguno que se encuentre entre ustedes a través de sus generaciones, y hace una ofrenda quemada como grato olor al SEÑOR, él lo hará así como ustedes lo hagan. 15 Un mismo estatuto tendrán los de la asamblea y el extranjero que resida con ustedes. Este es un estatuto perpetuo a través de sus generaciones. Como ustedes, así será el extranjero delante del SEÑOR. 16 Una misma ley y una misma norma tendrán ustedes y el extranjero que resida con ustedes’ ”.

Acerca de las ofrendas alzadas

17 El SEÑOR habló a Moisés diciendo: 18 “Habla a los hijos de Israel y diles: ‘Cuando hayan entrado en la tierra a la cual yo los llevo, 19 sucederá que cuando coman del pan de la tierra, presentarán una ofrenda alzada al SEÑOR. 20 De lo primero que amasen presentarán una torta como ofrenda alzada de la era; así la presentarán alzada. 21 De lo primero que amasen darán al SEÑOR una ofrenda alzada, a través de sus generaciones.

Expiación del pecado por inadvertencia

22 “‘Cuando pequen por inadvertencia y no cumplan todos estos mandamientos que el SEÑOR ha dado a Moisés 23 (todas las cosas que el SEÑOR les ha mandado por medio de Moisés, a partir del día en que el SEÑOR lo mandó para las generaciones de ustedes en adelante), 24 si el pecado fue cometido sin que la congregación se diera cuenta de ello, es decir, por inadvertencia, toda la congregación ofrecerá un novillo en holocausto como grato olor al SEÑOR, con su ofrenda vegetal y su ofrenda líquida, conforme a lo establecido, y un macho cabrío como sacrificio por el pecado. 25 El sacerdote hará expiación por toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel; y les será perdonado, porque fue por inadvertencia. Ellos traerán delante del SEÑOR, por su inadvertencia, su ofrenda al SEÑOR: la ofrenda quemada al SEÑOR y su sacrificio por el pecado. 26 Así le será perdonado a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel y al extranjero que resida entre ellos, porque se trata de la inadvertencia de todo el pueblo.

27 “ ‘Si un individuo peca por inadvertencia, ofrecerá una cabra de un año como sacrificio por el pecado. 28 El sacerdote hará expiación delante del SEÑOR por la persona que haya errado al pecar por inadvertencia, haciendo expiación por ella; y le será perdonado. 29 Tanto el natural de entre los hijos de Israel como el extranjero que resida entre ellos tendrán una misma ley respecto al que cometa pecado por inadvertencia.

30 “‘Pero si alguien comete pecado con altivez, sea natural o extranjero, al SEÑOR injuria. Tal persona será excluida de entre su pueblo, 31 porque tuvo en poco la palabra del SEÑOR y quebrantó su mandamiento. Tal persona será excluida por completo; su culpa estará sobre ella’ ”.

Juicio de un violador del sábado

32 Estando los hijos de Israel en el desierto, hallaron a un hombre que recogía leña en día de sábado. 33 Los que lo encontraron recogiendo leña lo llevaron ante Moisés, Aarón y toda la congregación, 34 y lo pusieron bajo guardia, porque no había sido declarado qué se había de hacer con él.

35 Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés: “Aquel hombre morirá irremisiblemente; que toda la congregación lo apedree fuera del campamento”.

36 Entonces toda la congregación lo sacó fuera del campamento, y lo apedrearon. Y murió, como el SEÑOR había mandado a Moisés.

Flecos recordatorios en la vestimenta

37 El SEÑOR habló a Moisés diciendo: 38 “Habla a los hijos de Israel y diles que a través de sus generaciones se hagan flecos en los bordes de sus vestiduras y que pongan un cordón azul en cada fleco del borde. 39 Los flecos servirán para que al verlos se acuerden de todos los mandamientos del SEÑOR, a fin de ponerlos por obra, y para que no vayan en pos de su propio corazón y de sus propios ojos, tras los cuales se han prostituido. 40 Será para que se acuerden y cumplan todos mis mandamientos, a fin de que sean santos para su Dios. 41 Yo, el SEÑOR, su Dios, que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto para ser su Dios. Yo, el SEÑOR, su Dios”.

Rebelión de Coré y su grupo

16 Coré hijo de Izjar, hijo de Cohat, hijo de Leví; Datán y Abiram, hijos de Eliab, y On hijo de Pelet, hijos de Rubén, tomaron gente 2 y se levantaron contra Moisés, junto con doscientos cincuenta hombres de los hijos de Israel, dirigentes de la congregación, nombrados de la asamblea y hombres de renombre. 3 Ellos se juntaron contra Moisés y contra Aarón, y les dijeron:

—¡Basta ya de ustedes! Porque toda la congregación, todos ellos son santos, y el SEÑOR está en medio de ellos. ¿Por qué, pues, se enaltecen ustedes sobre la asamblea del SEÑOR?

4 Cuando Moisés lo oyó, se postró sobre su rostro, 5 y habló a Coré y a todo su grupo, diciendo:

—El SEÑOR dará a conocer mañana por la mañana a los que son suyos. A quien sea santo lo hará que se acerque a él, y a quien escoja lo hará que se acerque a él. 6 Hagan esto, Coré y todo tu grupo: Tomen incensarios. 7 Mañana pongan fuego en ellos, y pongan en ellos incienso delante del SEÑOR. El hombre a quien el SEÑOR escoja, aquel será santo. ¡Basta ya de ustedes, oh hijos de Leví!

8 Moisés también dijo a Coré:

—Escuchen, por favor, hijos de Leví: 9 ¿Les parece poca cosa que el Dios de Israel los haya apartado de la congregación de Israel y los haya acercado a sí mismo para realizar el servicio del tabernáculo del SEÑOR y para estar delante de la congregación a fin de servirles? 10 Él te ha traído a su lado, y contigo a todos tus hermanos, los hijos de Leví. ¿Y procuran también el sacerdocio? 11 Por tanto, contra el SEÑOR se han juntado tú y todo tu grupo, pues ¿quién es Aarón, para que murmuren contra él?

12 Entonces Moisés mandó llamar a Datán y a Abiram, hijos de Eliab, pero ellos respondieron:

—¡No iremos! 13 ¿Te parece poca cosa que nos hayas hecho venir de una tierra que fluye leche y miel a fin de hacernos morir en el desierto, para que también insistas en enseñorearte sobre nosotros? 14 Tampoco nos has traído a una tierra que fluye leche y miel, ni nos has dado heredades de campos y viñas. ¿Vas a sacar los ojos a estos hombres? ¡No iremos!

15 Entonces Moisés se enojó muchísimo y dijo al SEÑOR:

—¡No aceptes su ofrenda! Ni siquiera un asno he tomado de ellos, ni a ninguno de ellos he hecho daño.

16 Después Moisés dijo a Coré:

—Preséntense mañana tú y todo tu grupo delante del SEÑOR; tú, ellos y Aarón. 17 Tomen cada uno su incensario y pongan en ellos incienso. Y acérquense delante del SEÑOR, cada uno con su incensario, doscientos cincuenta incensarios; también tú y Aarón, cada uno con su incensario.

18 Tomaron cada uno su incensario, pusieron en ellos fuego, echaron en ellos incienso, y se pusieron de pie con Moisés y Aarón a la entrada del tabernáculo de reunión. 19 Coré ya había reunido contra ellos a toda la congregación a la entrada del tabernáculo de reunión. Entonces la gloria del SEÑOR se apareció a toda la congregación. 20 Y el SEÑOR habló a Moisés y a Aarón diciendo:

21 —Apártense de en medio de esta congregación, pues voy a consumirlos en un instante.

22 Ellos se postraron sobre sus rostros y dijeron:

—Oh Dios, Dios de los espíritus de todo ser humano: Cuando un solo hombre peca, ¿te has de enfurecer contra toda la congregación?

23 Entonces el SEÑOR habló a Moisés y le dijo:

24 —Habla a la congregación diciendo: “Apártense de los alrededores de las moradas de Coré, Datán y Abiram”.

Castigo de Coré y su grupo

25 Moisés se levantó y fue a donde estaban Datán y Abiram. Y los ancianos de Israel fueron tras él. 26 Luego habló a la congregación diciendo:

—¡Apártense de las tiendas de estos hombres impíos! No toquen ninguna cosa suya, no sea que perezcan con todos sus pecados.

27 Se apartaron, pues, de alrededor de las moradas de Coré, Datán y Abiram. Entonces Datán y Abiram salieron y se pusieron de pie a la entrada de sus tiendas, junto con sus mujeres, sus hijos y sus niños pequeños. 28 Y Moisés dijo:

—En esto conocerán que el SEÑOR me ha enviado para que haga todas estas cosas, y que no las hice por mi propia voluntad: 29 Si estos mueren como mueren todos los hombres, o si les acontece solo la misma suerte de todos los hombres, entonces el SEÑOR no me ha enviado. 30 Pero si el SEÑOR hace algo nuevo y la tierra abre su boca y se los traga, junto con todo lo que les pertenece, y descienden vivos al Seol, entonces conocerán que estos hombres han menospreciado al SEÑOR.

31 Aconteció que al acabar él de hablar todas estas palabras, se rompió la tierra que estaba debajo de ellos. 32 La tierra abrió su boca y se los tragó a ellos, a sus familias y a todos los hombres que eran de Coré, junto con todos sus bienes. 33 Ellos con todo lo que tenían descendieron vivos al Seol. La tierra los cubrió, y perecieron en medio de la asamblea. 34 Y todo Israel, los que estaban a su alrededor, huyeron al grito de ellos, porque decían: “¡No sea que la tierra nos trague a nosotros también!”. 35 Después salió fuego de parte del SEÑOR y consumió a los doscientos cincuenta hombres que ofrecían el incienso.

Los incensarios de Coré como recordatorio

36 Entonces el SEÑOR habló a Moisés diciendo: 37 “Di a Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón, que tome los incensarios de en medio del incendio y que esparza las brasas a distancia; porque están santificados. 38 En lo que respecta a los incensarios de estos que pecaron a costa de sus vidas, de ellos se harán láminas para revestir el altar . Por cuanto han sido presentados delante del SEÑOR, están santificad
