Proverbs 5
New King James Version
The Peril of Adultery
5 My son, pay attention to my wisdom;
Lend your ear to my understanding,
2 That you may preserve discretion,
And your lips may keep knowledge.
3 For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey,
And her mouth is smoother than oil;
4 But in the end she is bitter as wormwood,
Sharp as a two-edged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death,
Her steps lay hold of hell.
6 Lest you ponder her path of life—
Her ways are unstable;
You do not know them.

7 Therefore hear me now, my children,
And do not depart from the words of my mouth.
8 Remove your way far from her,
And do not go near the door of her house,
9 Lest you give your honor to others,
And your years to the cruel one;
10 Lest aliens be filled with your wealth,
And your labors go to the house of a foreigner;
11 And you mourn at last,
When your flesh and your body are consumed,
12 And say:
“How I have hated instruction,
And my heart despised correction!
13 I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers,
Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me!
14 I was on the verge of total ruin,
In the midst of the assembly and congregation.”

15 Drink water from your own cistern,
And running water from your own well.
16 Should your fountains be dispersed abroad,
Streams of water in the streets?
17 Let them be only your own,
And not for strangers with you.
18 Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice with the wife of your youth.
19 As a loving deer and a graceful doe,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
And always be enraptured with her love.
20 For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman,
And be embraced in the arms of a seductress?

21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord,
And He ponders all his paths.
22 His own iniquities entrap the wicked man,
And he is caught in the cords of his sin.
23 He shall die for lack of instruction,
And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

5 Hijo mío, pon atención a mi sabiduría, y a mi entendimiento inclina tu oído;

2 para que guardes la sana iniciativa,
y tus labios conserven el conocimiento.

Amonestación contra el adulterio
3 Los labios de la mujer extraña gotean miel
y su paladar es más suave que el aceite;
4 pero su fin es amargo como el ajenjo, agudo como una espada de dos filos.
5 Sus pies descienden a la muerte; sus pasos se precipitan al Seol.
6 No considera el camino de la vida; sus sendas son inestables
y ella no se da cuenta.
7 Ahora pues, hijos, óiganme
y no se aparten de los dichos
de mi boca.
8 Aleja de ella tu camino
y no te acerques a la puerta de su casa,
9 no sea que des a otros tu honor
y tus años a alguien que es cruel;
10 no sea que los extraños se sacien con tus fuerzas,
y los frutos de tu trabajo vayan a dar
a la casa de un desconocido.
11 Entonces gemirás al final de tu vida, cuando tu cuerpo y tu carne se hayan consumido.
12 Y dirás: “¡Cómo aborrecí la disciplina
y mi corazón menospreció la reprensión!
13 No escuché la voz de mis maestros,
y a los que me enseñaban no incliné
mi oído.
14 Casi en todo mal he estado,
en medio de la sociedad y de la congregación”.

El legítimo placer conyugal
15 Bebe el agua de tu propia cisterna
y de los raudales de tu propio pozo.
16 ¿Se han de derramar afuera tus manantiales,
tus corrientes de aguas por las calles?
17 ¡Que sean para ti solo
y no para los extraños contigo!
18 Sea bendito tu manantial
y alégrate con la mujer de tu juventud,
19 como una preciosa cierva o una graciosa gacela.
Sus pechos te satisfagan en todo tiempo y en su amor recréate siempre.
20 ¿Por qué, hijo mío, andarás apasionado por una mujer ajena
y abrazarás el seno de una extraña?
21 Los caminos del hombre están ante los ojos del SEÑOR,
y él considera todas sus sendas.
22 Sus propias maldades apresarán al impío
y será atrapado en las cuerdas de su propio pecado.
23 Él morirá por falta de disciplina,
y a causa de su gran insensatez se echará a perder.
