16 Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.
2 And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.
3 And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.
4 And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
5 And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.
6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.
7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
9 Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.
10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.
11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
12 Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.
13 And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.
14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.
15 And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.
16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
18 And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.
19 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.
21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.
22 Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.
23 Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.
24 And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.
25 And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.
26 And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.
27 Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.
28 And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
30 And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.
31 Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.
17 And there was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah.
2 And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spakest of also in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my son.
3 And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the Lord from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.
4 Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah.
5 And the man Micah had an house of gods, and made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.
6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
7 And there was a young man out of Bethlehemjudah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he sojourned there.
8 And the man departed out of the city from Bethlehemjudah to sojourn where he could find a place: and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.
9 And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Bethlehemjudah, and I go to sojourn where I may find a place.
10 And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.
11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.
12 And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.
13 Then said Micah, Now know I that the Lord will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.

Sansón carga con las puertas de Gaza
16 Sansón fue a Gaza y vio allí a una mujer prostituta y se unió a ella. 2 Y fue dicho a los de Gaza: “Sansón ha venido acá”. Entonces ellos lo rodearon y lo estuvieron acechando toda la noche, junto a la puerta de la ciudad. Estos estuvieron en silencio toda la noche, diciendo: “Cuando aparezca la luz de la mañana, entonces lo mataremos”. 3 Pero Sansón estuvo acostado solamente hasta la medianoche. Se levantó a la medianoche, y tomando las puertas de la ciudad con sus dos postes las arrancó con cerrojo y todo. Las puso sobre sus hombros y las subió a la cumbre del monte que mira hacia Hebrón.
Dalila entrega a Sansón
4 Aconteció después de esto que Sansón se enamoró de una mujer del valle de Sorec, cuyo nombre era Dalila. 5 Y fueron a ella los jefes de los filisteos y le dijeron:
—Persuádelo y averigua en qué consiste su gran fuerza, y con qué lo podríamos dominar para atarlo y atormentarlo. Entonces cada uno de nosotros te dará doce kilos de plata.
6 Y Dalila dijo a Sansón:
—Dime, por favor, en qué consiste tu gran fuerza, y con qué podrías ser atado para ser atormentado.
7 Sansón le respondió:
—Si me atan con siete cuerdas de arco frescas que aún no estén secas, entonces me debilitaré y seré como un hombre cualquiera.
8 Los jefes de los filisteos le llevaron siete cuerdas de arco frescas que aún no estaban secas, y ella lo ató con ellas. 9 Ella tenía personas acechando en un cuarto. Entonces ella le dijo:
—¡Sansón, los filisteos sobre ti!
Pero él rompió las cuerdas como un cordel de estopa se rompe cuando toca el fuego. Y no se supo en qué consistía su fuerza. 10 Entonces Dalila dijo a Sansón:
—He aquí que te has burlado de mí y me has dicho mentiras. Ahora dime, por favor, con qué podrías ser atado.
11 Él le dijo:
—Si me atan fuertemente con sogas nuevas que no hayan sido usadas, entonces me debilitaré y seré como un hombre cualquiera.
12 Luego Dalila tomó sogas nuevas y lo ató con ellas. Y le dijo:
—¡Sansón, los filisteos sobre ti!
Y había personas acechando en el cuarto. Pero él rompió las sogas de sus brazos como un hilo. 13 Entonces Dalila dijo a Sansón:
—Hasta ahora te has burlado de mí y me has dicho mentiras. Dime, pues, con qué podrías ser atado.
Él entonces le dijo:
—Si tejes los siete mechones de mi cabellera entre la urdimbre, [y los aseguras con la clavija del telar contra la pared, me debilitaré y seré como un hombre cualquiera.
Dalila lo hizo dormir y tejió los siete mechones de su cabellera entre la urdimbre] . 14 Luego ella aseguró la clavija y le dijo:
—¡Sansón, los filisteos sobre ti!
Pero al despertar de su sueño, él arrancó la clavija del telar con la tela. 15 Y ella le dijo:
—¿Cómo, pues, dices: “Yo te amo”, siendo que tu corazón no está conmigo? Ya son tres veces las que te has burlado de mí, y no me has revelado en qué consiste tu gran fuerza.
16 Y aconteció que como ella lo presionaba todos los días con sus palabras y lo importunaba, el alma de él fue reducida a mortal angustia. 17 Entonces le descubrió todo su corazón y le dijo:
—Nunca pasó una navaja sobre mi cabeza, porque soy nazareo de Dios desde el vientre de mi madre. Si soy rapado, entonces mi fuerza se apartará de mí, me debilitaré y seré como un hombre cualquiera.
18 Viendo Dalila que él le había descubierto todo su corazón, envió a llamar a los jefes de los filisteos, diciendo: “Vengan esta vez, porque él me ha descubierto todo su corazón”. Entonces los jefes de los filisteos fueron a ella, llevando el dinero en la mano.
19 Ella hizo que él se durmiera sobre sus rodillas. Llamó a un hombre, quien le rapó los siete mechones de su cabeza. Entonces ella comenzó a atormentarlo, pues su fuerza se había apartado de él. 20 Y ella le dijo:
—¡Sansón, los filisteos sobre ti!
Él se despertó de su sueño y pensó: “Saldré como las otras veces y me escaparé”. Pero no sabía que el SEÑOR ya se había apartado de él. 21 Entonces los filisteos le echaron mano, le sacaron los ojos y lo llevaron a Gaza. Y lo ataron con cadenas de bronce, para que moliera en la cárcel. 22 Sin embargo, después que fue rapado, el cabello de su cabeza comenzó a crecer.
Venganza y muerte de Sansón
23 Entonces los jefes de los filisteos se reunieron para ofrecer un gran sacrificio a Dagón su dios y para regocijarse. Y decían:
—¡Nuestro dios ha entregado en nuestra mano a Sansón, nuestro enemigo!
24 Al verlo el pueblo, alabó a su dios diciendo:
—¡Nuestro dios ha entregado en nuestra mano a nuestro enemigo, al destructor de nuestra tierra, que había matado a muchos de los nuestros!
25 Y aconteció que cuando el corazón de ellos estaba alegre, dijeron:
—Llamen a Sansón para que nos sirva de espectáculo.
Llamaron a Sansón de la cárcel, y servía de espectáculo delante de ellos. Lo pusieron entre las columnas. 26 Y Sansón dijo al joven que lo guiaba de la mano:
—Déjame palpar las columnas sobre las cuales descansa el edificio, para que me apoye en ellas.
27 El edificio estaba lleno de hombres y mujeres. Todos los jefes de los filisteos estaban allí, y en la azotea había como tres mil hombres y mujeres que estaban mirando el espectáculo de Sansón. 28 Entonces Sansón clamó al SEÑOR diciendo:
—¡SEÑOR Dios , por favor, acuérdate de mí! Dame, te ruego, fuerzas solamente esta vez, oh Dios, para que de una vez tome venganza de los filisteos por mis dos ojos.
29 En seguida Sansón palpó las dos columnas de en medio, sobre las cuales descansaba el edificio; y se apoyó contra ellas, contra una con su mano derecha y contra la otra con su mano izquierda. 30 Y dijo Sansón:
—¡Muera yo con los filisteos!
Entonces empujó con fuerza, y el edificio cayó sobre los jefes y sobre toda la gente que estaba en él. Y fueron más los que mató al morir que los que había matado durante su vida.
31 Sus hermanos y toda la casa de su padre fueron y lo recogieron. Luego lo llevaron y lo sepultaron entre Zora y Estaol, en el sepulcro de su padre Manoa. Él juzgó a Israel durante veinte años.
El santuario de Micaías
17 Había un hombre de la región montañosa de Efraín que se llamaba Micaías. 2 Y este dijo a su madre:
—Los doce kilos de plata que te fueron tomados y por los que tú maldecías y hablabas en mi presencia, he aquí que la plata está en mi poder; yo la había tomado.
Entonces su madre dijo:
—¡El SEÑOR te bendiga, hijo mío!
3 Cuando él devolvió a su madre los doce kilos de plata, su madre dijo:
—Solemne y espontáneamente he dedicado la plata al SEÑOR, por mi hijo, para hacer una imagen tallada y de fundición. Ahora pues, yo te la devuelvo.
4 Pero él devolvió la plata a su madre. Y su madre tomó dos kilos de plata y los dio al fundidor. Este hizo con la plata una imagen tallada y de fundición, y fue puesta en la casa de Micaías.
5 Este hombre, Micaías, tenía un santuario. Mandó hacer un efod e ídolos domésticos, e invistió a uno de sus hijos para que fuera su sacerdote.
6 En aquellos días no había rey en Israel, y cada uno hacía lo que le parecía recto ante sus propios ojos.
Un levita en el santuario de Micaías
7 Había un joven de Belén de Judá, de la tribu de Judá, que era levita y vivía allí como forastero. 8 Este hombre había partido de la ciudad de Belén de Judá para ir a residir donde encontrara lugar. Y en su caminar por la región montañosa de Efraín llegó a la casa de Micaías. 9 Y Micaías le preguntó:
—¿De dónde vienes?
Él le respondió:
—Soy un levita de Belén de Judá, y voy a residir donde encuentre lugar.
10 Entonces le dijo Micaías:
—Quédate conmigo y sé para mí como padre y sacerdote. Yo te daré ciento diez gramos de plata por año, y tu ropa y tu comida.
El levita entró. 11 El levita convino en habitar con aquel hombre, y el joven llegó a ser para él como uno de sus hijos. 12 Micaías invistió al levita, el cual le servía de sacerdote y vivía en la casa de Micaías. 13 Micaías dijo:
—¡Ahora sé que el SEÑOR me prosperará, porque un levita ha venido a ser mi sacerdote!
