About the Composer of Salangai Nadham

Madurai.R. Muralidharan a Dancer, Singer, choreographer,
Nattuvanar, Composer and well known guru is a Senior disciple of Guru.
Kalaimamani.Chamundeeswari, (who is a well known dancer and dance teacher) and
her mother Smt.Samanthakamani Palaniandy.
He started learning this art from the age of 7 alongwith his
sister
Smt. R. Manimekalai. Guru Mrs. Chamundeeswari after her marriage handed over the
school "Nrithyakshethra" to her efficient students Madurai. R. Muralidharan and
his sister Smt. R. Manimekalai who took up the directorship.
The inauguration of the school was celebrated in the year
1978 with just 25 students and so far the institute has trained more than 500.
Many students from Australia, France, America, South Africa, Holland & Srilanka
come to this institution every year to learn new items from Madurai.
Muralidharan & Smt. Chitra Muralidharan also a well known
dancer and disciple
of Kalaimamani Ranganayaki Jayaraman who took over the directorship after the
marriage of Smt. R. Manimekalai. They have trained many students and have
completed more than 85 arangetrams so far.
The 85th Arangetram was held on 26.02.2002, The school
celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 2nd January 2003. Madurai R. Muralidharan has
Choreographed and performed several dance ballets like Silappathikaram, Kanda
Puranam, Nandanar Charitham, Ramayanam, Thirukkural, Anarkali, Shri Krishna
Leela, Buddha, Navarasa Shiva Shakthi, Shakthi Yugha Prabhavam, Nammalwar,
Thirumangai Alwar, Thulukka Nachiyar along with his sister and wife.
They have given several dance programmes all over India and
abroad which includes United States of America, Srilanka, Singapore, Canada and
South Africa. Muralidharan and his sister were working in the Music College as
Dance Professors.They have released several cds, and audio cassettes under the
name Nrithyopasana (Kalavardhini cassettes) and Salangai Nadham of which many
are Muralidharan's own compositions.
They have also released a CD-ROM on "Bharathanatyam - Essence
and essentials" in association with Swathi Soft Solutions.
At present they are training many dancers thus spreading this divine art all
over the world.
