I went to see my Mom in California last month and we were talking about the American Legion in Mountain Home.

My mom has been a member for fifty years and has her award pins from those years.

I, for one, am very proud of the way we were raised with honor and dignity toward our Military and Vets.
I used to go to the Veterans Hospital with Mom when she volunteered and we made Poppys with the Vets that were sold on Poppy Day.

In this day of violence and fighting every where, I look back and smile at the community I was raised in.

The American Legion was a major social place in the early days. There were dances and dinners there.
I also took ballet lessons there from Mrs. McKnight. I have a couple of programs I will post one of these days.
