As kids we would often go to Carl Miller park and climb all over the chimney in the top picture. Those were the days before jungle gyms, I guess. If you were really brave, you would "scootch" across the front of it, just above the fireplace. But if you weren't, you climbed from one side to the other on the backside. There was a large, round, gazebo-type wooden structure next to it. It was referred to as "the band stand." It was fun to play on, but they tore it down many, many years ago for safety reasons.
I think the second picture is the remains of a one room schoolhouse east if town. My aunt taught there before I was born and my family referred to as "Aunt Gerty's schoolhouse. Which reminds me, "Johnney Behind the Rock" lived near there. I loved hearing stories about him! Thanks for a trip down memory lane!
Was Rattlesnake Station the old Pony Express Station or Stagecoach station? If so, I remember it well. My dad made sure we all knew about it. It is on the road that goes to Anderson Ranch Dam, isn't it?
