Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: No Subject

hello.

when this first started I thought I was going crazy...lol

It took almost a year and 3 doctors later before someone finally said, you have a panic disorder.ugh..

I opted to take paxil, gained alot of weight but can function alot better.

Most of my attacks vanished over night,imazing...

I have only suffered 2 panic attacks this year. I tried a councilor but when he started going into the past about something that might have happened to me when I was a child,I gave up.I had a very happy childhood and wasn't going to spent the rest of my life looking into that.

the only problem is most people don't understand.I tell people what is wrong and let people be aware that we're not crazy...I have very supportive family and friends who understood and helped me.I used to have to have someone go out with me and take me home when I felt an attack come on.

I gradually worked my way up to ging out alone and finally got back to work.

hang in there I believe we will all overcome this and we will be stronger when we do.

Hi, i'm going to councilling at the moment try to figure out the cause of mine.I think in some cases it's to do with a chemical imbalance, and in others to do with their past. I think it's very difficult to figure out what 'causes' it, and that is the hardest part of it, makes u think ur mad!!

Hi Nancy - hope you have taken the time to read my site and my story. Yes, it is horrible and I always said that I would never wish this on anyone but sometimes there are people that I do wish it on so they can see how we all feel!!!

I do wish you a speedy recovery

trust me I know how you feel.I have been living with my panic disorder for 3 years now. most of the time I feel o.k.

but like u for no reason, I feel like I am going to faint.alot of the time I can tell myself this is just my illness and I can overcome this. mind over matter. it usually works but sometimes it gets the best of me and I think I will die. when that happens,I have to go to my safe place which is home.this is a horrible disease but I do believe we can become stronger people cuz of it.would love to hear from you. nancy....spearow17@hotmail.com

Does anyone else feel like they're about to pass out for no reason. I get this just sitting at work, or at home, when i'm not thinking of anything, or concentrating on my feelings, when i'm not even feeling anxious! This causes me to panic, as i automatically think somethings wrong

Hi Nancy.

I too saw a counsellor and hypnotherapist for the panic attacks but did not like it when they tried to find something in my childhood to 'blame' it all. I used to come out crying from the hypnotherpay sessions and feeling even worse. I think they were trying to blame it on my parents but I had a very happy childhood and never wanted for anything.

I am glad that you are recovering well - keep it up

Take care, Nic
