Book 1 in the Georgia Ayres Series
Georgia Ayres is a fledgling reporter fresh out of high school when she joins the staff of one of Nashville’s two competing newspapers. While she expects her job to be rife with challenges, given her age and gender, she never dreams that it will also be full of uncertainty and intrigue revolving around a mysterious man, an elderly woman, and a turn of events that could shake the local newspaper industry at its core.
As she attempts to weave her way through an apparent conspiracy that stretches into the local political scene and threatens the closure of one of the two Nashville papers, she also finds herself on a journey of the heart that forces her to explore some of her deepest fears. When the precarious balance between her personal and professional life is turned upside down by love and loss, she must decide whether she is willing to accept the risks associated with change.
This is a book about how fear can prevent us from saying what we really feel to those who mean the most to us, and how friendship, however unexpected it appears, can help us gain the courage to voice the things we have left unsaid.

Julie Travers and her family moved from Cincinnati to Nashville in the 1960s to allow her father to accept a job as Financial Manager at a local bank. Upon graduation from high school, Julie is hired by the same bank as a teller. Once there, she meets the Branch Manager who becomes her close friend and eventual love interest. When her father appears to be involved in illegal activities that have caught the attention of the FDIC and FBI, she enlists his help to prove her father’s innocence.
As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that the crimes are not confined to Nashville but reach much further into the Southeast. Just when she is about to give up hope of seeing her father expunged of any criminal involvement, an anonymous tip allows the local police to uncover the details of who is truly involved in the string of crimes.
The Choices We Make is a story about the importance of listening to our inner voice when we are faced with making decisions that will shape our lives, realizing we have control over those decisions, and recognizing that the choices we make now will define, not only our present, but our future as well.

Book 3 in the Georgia Ayres Series
5-STAR RATING FROM READERS FAVORITE LLC- "The Chances We Take contains several compelling plots – the mystery surrounding the ghost’s request; the love relationship of Georgia and Jon; changing their professional lives – in other words, taking chances in life. The author writes in a clear, concise style, engaging the reader from the first page to the last. Her descriptions of Nashville and Hilton Head Island make both areas easy to visualize, in the mid-1970s. Another authentic feature of this time period is the choice of food the characters eat. The characters, including the main ones and several who have smaller roles, are well-developed. Author Annell St. Charles has crafted a fascinating novel in The Chances We Take. A captivating read!" ~Deborah Lloyd
When Georgia Ayres agreed to join her friend Julie, her husband Harry, and Georgia’s boyfriend Jon on a vacation trip to Hilton Head Island, she never dreamed the trip would lead her into a world where the living and the dead coexist. Upon discovering that many of the residents of the barrier islands are descendants of the Gullah who had been brought to Hilton Head as slaves, Georgia was drawn to explore a local Gullah graveyard. While there, she encountered the ghost of Miss Bessie Campbell who enlisted her help in unraveling the mysterious death of her grandfather. She also developed a special friendship with two other Gullah descendants, Henry and his wife Mary, whose love and support helped her find the strength to delve into a world as foreign to her as their unique language.
